Edited to add - I am on around 1000 - 1100 calories a day now. Maybe a bit more at the weekend when I have a glass of wine.

And I am on 4-6 small meals or Snacks a day now, very variable. I always make up my calories at the end of the day so I'l have cheese or hummus or nut butter if I haven't got to 1000 by bedtime. Protein is no problem because I like to snack on deli meat or meat I cook myself and cut up for my tub in the fridge. I have a meat tub AND a cheese tub, LOL.

Missed this part. Thanks for the info! Even this far, I am still trying to figure out what to eat..

Ow wow - look at those losses and BMIs!!! I'm so glad to see you all doing so well. And I didn't know there was a 5-6 month stall, thanks for that. I'm right slap bang in the middle of it I think and I want it to GO AWAY NOW!:D

What are you all doing exercise-wise? I think this is my next big hurdle. I walk the dog most days and do a really fast long walk (well, 3 miles) with a friend once a week. I think I need to do more but I work really long hours and it's easier just to veg out on the couch after work. I think the lighter evenings will help though. Gonna ask my friend whether we could walk on another night too - it's good motivation. And whether she might do the couch to 5k programme with me, I think it's time!

I'm still pretty much doing that six weeks on. I don't have to think nearly as much about what I eat now. Big challenge in a few weeks' time when I go out for a meal with family (I haven't told them about my surgery). The restaurant only does a tasting menu so there are about 8 courses to get through. I hope they come slowly, I can drink a bit to help them slip down, and that I can 'share' (i.e. pass on) plenty of what's on my plate! I'll be telling them I'm cutting down, because that's the truth.

So, for second week in a row I'm down 1.2lbs. That feels painfully slow. I mean, it's still the right direction but, well you understand. I'm 2 weeks away to my 6 month mark. My goal was 290 by the 15th... but since I was 297 this morning, I'd predict 294. I shouldn't complain ... it's still all good. To focus on the bright side, I'm 2 weeks under 300. I'm much more active than I was 6 months ago and I'm feeling great. I'm walking at the rec center 4 to 5 days per week and hitting light weights after along with a short sweat in the sauna. Diet wise, my day looks about like this... coffee and Protein Shake, ... maybe an apple, 1/2 Gatorade zero and Water with benefiber, maybe 1 egg around 11, tuna or chicken or egg salad for lunch, other half Gatorade zero and water with benefiber, usually fish or shrimp for dinner... or I just try to keep it reasonably healthy and on a saucer sized plate. Sometimes a late afternoon snake as well.

So, the one thing I know I can do is a couple of liquid only days... that should help to jumpstart my progress again, maybe I can do that mid week this coming week.

Good luck everyone.

I've just come back from a two week trip to the US, didn't weigh while I was there, did lots of walking but totally gave myself a break with the eating and managed to put on 3lbs while I was there which was my first gain since my operation. I've managed to lose it again fairly quickly now I'm back and on plan and have just hit the 7 stone loss mark - 98lbs, which has put me dead on 200lbs - can't wait to get under that.

Love reading everyone's stories!

8 courses, ouch! :)

Wife wants to go to a Brazilian restaurant they opened nearby, where they bring platters and platters of meat to the table in trays. I guess I'll bring the food scale along! :)

Congrats! I've been a slow loser from the start. As long as it moves in the right direction, all is good.

So far so good. 5 months post op and realized that I need to hit a minimum 1200-1400 calories a day to lose. Any less absolutely results in stalled weight.

Down 125 lbs so far though!

Finally the stall has broken and scale started moving again. Hoping it continues to trend down and next stall is far far away 😂

End of a stall here too - thank goodness, it's boring as heck. I can't say anything made the difference in the end - just kept keeping on. I do wonder whether the people who say that increasing Protein or increasing exercise or increasing Water 'broke' their stall were just distracting themselves with those things and the stall was going to break anyway, but then swear they were THE reason??

I don't weigh in until tomorrow but I feel like I've had a good week pushing my fluids and getting lots of steps. We shall see.

In next week's edition of how to break a stall, I'm getting a colonoscopy! Lol. This will be interesting.

Yeh I felt the same. I tried to increasing/decreasing calories and exercise routine but nothing helped. Similar routine and all of a sudden scale started moving. 🤷🏻‍♀️

So it seems like such stalls will come and go and changing anything in your routine won't help much. At least that's my experience too.

Stall broken with today's weigh in with a minus 4. That feels good. Again... i pushed the fluids hard this week. As in, I was drinking between 125 and 150 oz of Water each day. Still ate plenty of Protein and also started participating in a step count contest at work... averaged 10k steps per day. Good week.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
