ClareLynn 153 Posted December 30, 2021 I’ve been stalled for almost 3 weeks now. Lost 20 lbs in the first two weeks after surgery then hit a wall. I eat about 500-700 calories a day, weighing and tracking everything. Not losing inches either and I’m pooping like a champ. 😂 It’s demoralizing but I’m going to mentally amortize the initial 20 over the month and assume that I will keep losing weight eventually. 1 OutdoorsGirl reacted to this
DaisyAndSunshine 303 Posted January 2, 2022 New Year's day - About a month post-Op and I am at 192. So about 18 pounds down since the surgery. Ofc there was a stall of about 3 weeks. Hoping no more stalls. And even if there are, not too long of a stall 😔🙏 1 OutdoorsGirl reacted to this
Valboosky 24 Posted January 2, 2022 We are the couple that mostly hosts events like Christmas and New Years for our family. I have to say, it has been somewhat hard for me to work that hard on preparing a feast for family and barely getting more than a few ounces in. Then just sitting there at the table looking at everybody eat for the rest of the meal. At least family has been extremely supportive of my decision, same for friends. I feel awful for people that have had pushback from their loved ones.
Spinoza 1,453 Posted January 3, 2022 I've been on the other side of the big feasts - going to events where I would usually eat lots and just having a little! I ate my first restaurant meal yesterday with friends rather than family (family know about my surgery - I haven't told anyone else) and it was hard to explain convincingly why I only had a little fish when before surgery I would have finished everything and helped the others with theirs! I do all the cooking at home and have no problems with tiny portions, but we do entertain a lot too and that might be harder. It's all good though.
Tristenhilpert97 40 Posted January 3, 2022 Hello Surgery friends! Just a quick update... I will be 2 months Post op on January 8th and I am down to 336. I weighed 375 the morning of surgery and 408 on October 24th. I am starting to feel like I haven't lost enough weight since surgery? Only 39 pounds in 2 months doesn't seem like a lot. I have stuck with our dieticians plan to a t just not seeing the weight loss I expected.
dwilbanks 0 Posted January 3, 2022 Hello WSLers Long time listener, first time caller. I was sleeved on 11/22/21. I had lost over 40lbs since my surgery, but now seem to be gaining a pound a day the last few days. My diet has remained the same, 1-2 Premiere Protein Shakes, 5 oz of non/low fat yogurt, and 4 bites of misc Protein from dinner. Getting 64 oz or more of Water has been brutal. Any ideas on the weight gain? It's really screwing with my head. Walking (exercise) has been limited, since I am currently experiencing my fourth gout attack since my surgery. I've been taking 600mg Allopurinol daily and 0.6mg of Colchicine during flare ups. It's been brutal. I have not had an attack in a while. Regards Dan
Pete-TheTimeIsNow 48 Posted January 3, 2022 Hey Dan, welcome to the forum. Just keep following your plan, focus on protein/water intake, and ignore the scale for a few days. Not familiar with gout, but if it is an inflammatory disease, maybe the extra weight could be Water retention due to inflammation caused by the gout flare-up. 1 dwilbanks reacted to this

Everybody will lose at different rates, depending on starting BMI, height, gender, muscle mass, etc. Some people lose really fast, and others at a steady lower rate. Keep following your plan, and make sure you are meeting the daily Water goal. Water is essential to 'process' stored fat. For reference, I'm approaching month 2, and I am losing a bit over 2 lbs/week. 1 Kimmysu reacted to this

It is hard not to get discouraged, but try not to. I stalled for almost 3 weeks after my first month, then it started falling off again. I am down 45 lbs in 7 weeks. 3 OutdoorsGirl, Pete-TheTimeIsNow and ClareLynn reacted to this
Spinoza 1,453 Posted January 5, 2022 It is really hard when the scales don't play ball or we don't lose as much as we want. I had a few gains over the holidays and man that is hard to take when you're pretty much sticking to the letter of the law. But - stalls and gains will always end if you stick to the plan. Slow steady weight loss is just as good as big whooshes and probably better for your body. I have lost 19lbs since the day of my surgery 7 weeks ago, and only 11 of those have been since I got out of hospital. But every other year since the dawn of time I would have gained 5lbs over that sort of time if I wasn't on one of my never ending diets. So WE ARE WINNING! Some just win faster than others and they're really lucky 😊 2 OutdoorsGirl and Pete-TheTimeIsNow reacted to this
Spinoza 1,453 Posted January 7, 2022 Stall is over at last! I've lost 3lbs this week. I'm back! I suspect I'm going to be a slow loser but that was beyond a joke and I needed to see a loss again. How is everyone else doing? 2 Lynoodle and LouLouM reacted to this

I've managed to start walking this week. I figured that if I had a good week with adding some walking, I might break through the plateau... nope. Nothing moved today. My goal is 328 by Feb 15, but I'm feeling like I won't quite make it unless this plateau breaks soon. I'm focusing on adding Fiber to the diet in the form of supplements and salads. Anything to help me get "moving". Hoping the walks help with that too.

Slow loser I think so too 🥲 Last 4 weeks and I have lost only about 6 pounds. There was ofc 2 or 3 weeks of stall but even now my scale isn't budging much. It can get very frustrating and disappointing when it's only the beginning of the 2nd month. Le sigh, hope by the end of the month I can at least lose 10 pounds in total for this month, otherwise it would be highly disappointing 😭😭😭 1 1 OutdoorsGirl and Spinoza reacted to this
