November Surgery Buddies!!!

Had a bad day. I feel like I really wanted to eat too much. I didn't feel the same fullness today for some reason. That has me scared. I've been stuck at the same weight for 2 weeks. I know I need to trust the process, but at the moment, I'm wondering if this is going to work for me.

Don't give up FMO. I put ON a pound today so that leaves me a total loss of 3lbs 19 days post surgery. Something has got to give soon. You control what goes in - hope you managed to stick to the program. Even if you didn't, back on it today and I bet all the stickers here see a big loss soon 🤞🤞🤞

I am at the three week post op mark. Slowly advancing my diet. No more puréed. Now just soft foods. Thank god for grilled fish which is filling and satisfying. No weight loss in a week which I am fine with because I have reintroduced carbs and I know from the many failed Keto diets that the minute you have carbs again the weight comes back with a vengeance. I am still very full after only a few bites so I can’t eat enough Protein so I am still doing a shake a day. I am down to just one of the five incisions that is still healing. The rest have closed up nicely.

I am having a weird experience with friends and family. I can only eat a few bites of food and with Christmas approaching I have been going out to dinner and to parties a lot. It is such a waste of money to order a meal given restaurant portion sizes knowing that leftovers don’t qualify as soft food after they are microwaved. So instead I have been asking to split meals. I am surprised by how many people look at me like I am a monster for suggesting this. Does anyone else find that people don’t want to split a meal at a restaurant?

The only one that I have been sharing meals with is my husband and he is happy to because he now calls me his cheap date (haha). As for going out with friends, I found that if I just order an appetizer then I have fewer leftovers and I can still get my own plate. I had the same situation with the weight loss, for some reason I went back and forth from 217 to 218 for a week. But finally this morning I was down to 216!

Yes, I have a few meals out lined up over the next 3 weeks and I think I'm just going to order whatever the softest starter is, to come out with everyone else's main courses. If there's Soup on the menu better still. I haven't told anyone other than my partner and children about the surgery but all my family and friends are so used to me permanently 'being on a diet' so they won't turn a hair at this latest restriction to my eating. 😏

Gmast - if you had asked me in my before life to split a meal I would definitely have looked at you as if you were mad. 😍

Hi all, just checking in! 23 days out, 6lbs off. Third day of eating soft food, mostly fish so far, at about 1/4 cup per meal. Still having at least one Protein Shake a day too. Slightly harder to get the fluids in now because I'm so full after eating the proper food that I can't drink anything for an hour or more, so I've started pre-loading with fluids before meals. Have started getting on the cross trainer in the last 3 days - starting at 5 minutes and increasing by a minute a day. Still have some pain in my left side that with certain movements can be really sharp, and still wakens me at night sometimes. I have two holiday meals out next week, one with friends one with family, it'll be interesting to see how those go! No alcohol so far but I might try something this weekend because I really don't want my first glass of wine to result in disaster at a dinner in a restaurant.

And that's my report! How are all of you getting along? Any plans for the weekend? I'm going to a nice festive concert tomorrow - really looking forward to that. Every day is feeling more normal.

You are doing amazing! Keep up the good work. I had/have the same issues with getting all my fluids in too. I find myself forcing the liquids, like keeping a water bottle everywhere I am so i sip constantly.

Hey everyone!! Just weighed myself and I am officially down 40 pounds since I started this.

Back in July I had the talk with my GP and told him enough was enough I am contacting a surgeon and getting help with my weight. At that point I weighed 254 (I'm 5'1"). Had my surgery on Nov 2nd and as of this morning I was 214.4 so 40 down, 84 more to my ultimate goal. 😁

Okay. It took almost 2 weeks but my stall finally broke. Down 6 today from last week. That's 51# down since Nov 8. I focused on the Protein and fluids this week.

hair looking a bit thin already though. I don't dig that. Oh well.

I had surgery 11/29 still on full liquids. It was going well at first then a week after surgery I got a bad cold. Many of the Protein Drinks have milk (whey) in them that makes me cough even more. I cal the dr had a day on broth where I add extra collegian . If you need a little extra Protein consider adding non-flavor collegian.

So I lost about 12 pounds on the clear liquid phase which was for 7 days post-Op. Today is the end of day 11 and I haven't lost anything since full Fluid phase.

Calories are around 450 to 600 and Protein around 40 to 50 grams/day. Not sure if that's too much.

But yeh I am clearly on a stall and not sure when it'll start moving down. 😭

Don't stress D&S you'll see movement again soon. I had more than 2 weeks post op where I lost virtually nothing and even now, 26 days out, I have lost only 7lbs since I got home from hospital. I'm taking that though! I think I will change to weekly weighing now so I don't get too knocked by all the ups and downs - they come with the territory. We all know that because we've all dieted soooooo much before. Hope your stall ends really soon. Your calories sound spot on, and so does your Protein 👌

Sounds like everyone is doing well. I’m down 14 pounds from surgery on November 9th. I haven’t had any problems with anything I’ve tried. I’m getting about 800 calories a day and about 70 grams of Protein. Keep up the good work everyone!

My surgery was on November 26, 2021. I just hoped it worked because I only lost 13 pounds and it's been 16 days. The past few days I haven't lost any weight.

Don't worry, it'll have worked. Lots of people can be slow to lose immediately after surgery. I am almost 4 weeks out and I have lost 15lbs in total from the day of my surgery and only 7 of those were since I got back home over 3 weeks ago! 13lbs in 16 days on ANY diet is amazing and that's only the start for you. 👍

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
