Really hungry! It actually worried me until people here said that it's normal. liquids slip right through your new stomach same as before - it's when you go on to solids that you will feel the restriction. I have to space out my Protein Shakes through the day and make sure to keep something for bedtime or hunger would actually keep me awake.

Well done on getting this far - it really does get a little easier every day from now on.

You made my day, thank you so much! Be waiting for the solid food phase!

Yes, I feel hungry too. I’m on purées right now. Couldn’t wait for purées and now can’t wait for the next phase. :)

Oh I forgot the weirdest thing that happened after my surgery. I woke up and my eye glasses didn’t work anymore! In the span of 2 hours my prescription changed.

So right now I have to take off my glasses for anything up close and put them back on to see stuff more than 3 feet away.

The doctor thinks it’s a reaction to anesthesia or the nausea patch. I had just ordered 2 new pairs of glasses a week ago and will be quite sore if I can’t wear them! 😅

Still on Full liquids. Looking forward to puree. It's getting tough though. I haven't weighed myself... decided to do that only on Sundays. Not sure I feel like I've lost much weight this week. Surgery was last week Monday... so I'm 12 days out. I need to figure out how to get walking in. It's suddenly cold here.. 30 degrees. Compound that with constantly feeling cold after surgery and I do not want to go outside. I'm worried that I'm not getting enough Protein. I know I'm allowed my Protein Shakes now, but the thought turns me off.

Hi all, just saying hello after lurking for a day or two. I'm so glad to have found you all - was floundering around on Google looking for answers and they're mighty thin on specifics. I need DETAILS guys!

I had a sleeve gastrectomy last Wednesday November 17 so I'm day 7 today. I have some residual pain in the left side of my abdomen - I've had a lot more pain than I expected actually but other than that everything is going really well. Super tired today but I suppose that's to be expected! Still on the emotional rollercoaster - full of optimism for my new life but simultaneously grieving the loss of my closest companion of many years, overeating.

I'm in Ireland so I will keep strange hours compared to you lot, but that's good for me - you'll all be here for me when I can't sleep!

Hi Spinoza! My dearest friend is from Ireland, County Limerick, and decided to move her family to Ireland while they're working remotely through COVID. They're currently living in Wicklow and I miss them so.

I hope that you are feeling and recovering well.

My nutritionist has me starting eating things like scrambled eggs, canned chicken or tuna with very little light mayo to moisten it so it won’t get stuck going down while swallowing. I can eat lean ground beef, thin sliced deli roast beef and turkey, shrimp, cottage cheese, yogurt some cooked vegetables. I still need at least one Protein Drink included in my day. My nutritionist stated I have to introduce these foods slowly to determine if my new stomach can digest these food. She some patients find out that the foods they ate before surgery find out they are unable to eat afterwards. I am so excited to start transitioning to textured foods but nervous at the same time that my new stomach will handle it now. Wishing all my fellow November Surgery Buddies who are transitioning to the next phase of your diet plan.
What do you all think of changing our group name from “November Surgery Buddies” to

“2021 November Surgery Warriors” I believe this group we are all warriors from our decision making, preparing or already has their gastric bariatric surgery as well as joining BariatricPal for support. I will understand if no one wants to change the groups name. I just wanted to bring it up as a suggestion. Reading these posts and seeing how much all of support each other made me look at how much we have a lot of strength and are uplifting thoughts for each other. It reminds me that we are warriors of battling our challenges together.

I really need to stop weighing myself. Still nothing off, and I mean not an ounce, in the now 9 days since I got home. Starting to lose hope 😥

Hang in there.. Focus on your Protein and Water intake, up your exercise as much as you can (within the limits set by your Dr.).. if you are on puree phase, make sure the portions are the correct size/volume...

I lost like 3 lbs by the time I got back from the hospital.. but after that... the weight remained constant for 10-12 days.. and then it started coming off.

I agree on not weighing!!! I am committed to weighing only every Sunday. Another good tracking method, that shirt or clothing item that you're almost into that is just not there yet... try on every other week.

Last 2 days of full liquids... treats today of Malt o Meal with cinnamon for Breakfast and a tortilla Soup, strained with sour cream for later. Focusing on at least 36 oz of Water today.

Oh that's really helpful to know Pete - thank you! Will keep the faith a bit longer. Most of my head knows it will start soon. There's one tiny dark corner that's telling me I'm wasting my time and I'm gonna be fat forever.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
