Talk to your doctor. Did you change your eating (lots of salt?)? Exercising more or taking your blood pressure right after exercise? Did you take your blood pressure at a place like CVS? Those are not very accurate if you are still on the bigger side. Did you or the doctor use the right size cuff? That makes a huge difference! Did you increase/add/lower any medication?

Hi Lisa, Sorry to hear about the high BP. Is it elevated (higher than your normal) or high (at dangerous level)? Check the BP charts averages and make sure it is not at an unsafe level. You should call your doctor or go to the ER if it is abnormally high. As Lizonaplane said, different monitors and cuffs sizes can affect the accuracy of the reading.

If it is elevated, drink some Water, relax & recheck. You can also see what your doctor recommends to help it get lower.

If you already take BP meds, perhaps you missed a dose?

I hope you are OK & figure it out with your doctor. Keep us posted! 💜

You can get one with a large cuff at any Duane Reade, RiteAid, Walgreens, CVS, etc. The OMRON brand is the one I've had the best luck with. However, I do notice I have to take my BP twice, it's almost like the first one is a "practice" run. After that I get consistent readings.
