I am two weeks out as of yesterday and still have 2 more weeks of liquids. Last night I was dreaming all night that I would eat a cookie and in the middle of eating it remember that I'm not supposed to eat real food and panic. Then I would be sitting at a dinner table and be eating lots of food from a plate and again realize that I was not supposed to be eating it and try to figure out how I could spit out a huge mouthful without people around me noticing what I'm doing. Over and over I would get into these situations....all night long. How exhausting!

The first night I was banded I had these same kind of dreams.

Wow, food sure doesn't want to let go of its hold from me! Then again, 4 weeks on liquids is a long time. It's a sad thing when the highlight of my day eatingwise is when I get to have my chewable vitamin!

Is anyone else having dreams like this?

Yes I did. Tells you what your mind is thinking about doesn't it. That is why food is about the brain with us, not our stomachs or real hunger.

I haven't had the dreams but there are times where I have these thoughts that I will forget I have the band and just swallow a mouthful of food and choke on it. Silly thoughts which I'm sure come from being anxious.

I have no had any dreams about food, but I have had cravings when I see a TV commercial or something and think WOW that looks so yummy. But I quickly remind myself that Lean looks better than that will taste!!

It is not easy by no means......but it is much easier to Just say NO when you have the band don't you think?

I was told at our local support group by one of our nurses that you should never NOT eat something if you really want it.....just have a taste....not the whole bag or whole cake or pie.......I have not had any candy since my banding.

I had a bite of pie at Thanksgiving and I had a bite of cheesecake last week when out to dinner with DH.

I really am not craving these types of foods anymore. LUCKY me I know!!

I'm there with you - which is INCREDIBLY surprising to me. I am the sugar addict to beat all sugar addicts. I used to eat all kinds of junk. I have been on diets before where I have had to cut out sugar or white flour. Yeah, I guess the cravings kinda, sorta went away, but I could be totally clean for a month and still feel bummed out on what I was missing out on and I would eventually slip. I don't even feel an urge at all for any of my former friends. It's SO weird. I won't complain at all, though! I love it. I finally feel free.

As for dreams...yeah. I posted a thread about it in general or support, I can't remember, called My Latest Nightmare. But I had a dream that I got stressed out about something and rather than dealing with it, I went ahead back to my old ways and ate a bunch of Oreos! :faint:I felt AWFUL!! I was SO glad when I woke up and it wasn't true. Especially since I HAVE had some terrible stress since being banded and I really didn't have an urge to eat!! I was so angry that I chose that in my dream. LOL

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
