Suwanee 0 Posted December 11, 2007 Hi! I started exercising :clap2: and i noticed that while i was exercising when i breathed in deeply, my left upper shoulder would start hurting pretty bad. It proceeded to continue till i was finally done with the workout, but when i increased intensity then the pain was sharper. Today, all is good again. I was wondering if anyone else had felt something like this. I tried doing a search within the posts, but was not able to find anything. Any help would be appreciated. Tuono_John 0 Posted December 11, 2007 How long has it been since surgery? Sometimes it is gas left from the surgery, especially in shorter women. John
Suwanee 0 Posted December 11, 2007 I had my surgery on 10/11 and I am about 5'6". Do you think it might be gas?
rharriet62 0 Posted December 12, 2007 Hi, I think your surgery was too long ago for it to be gas, but I'm no expert on that since I didn't have that problem. I did, however, have a torn rotator cuff from lifting and so I would not rule that out, either. Front of shoulder, even into collar bone area...hurts when you lift your arms (like to Shampoo hair) and hurt when doing most anything. Certainly worth a check up or a call to your doc if you are not sure and still in pain. Good luck!
deb2porter 0 Posted December 23, 2007 Hi, I still have terrible left shoulder pain and my surgery was Oct.16, 2007. Right now it is killing me. I was told it was a sign of diabetes. I had frozen shoulder in my right arm 1 1/2 years ago and it seemed to move to my left shoulder a couple months ago. But when I awoke from surgery...wow the pain was unbearable. girlygirlz 0 Posted December 23, 2007 I am a week out from surgery and still have awful left shoulder pain. I feel like most of my gas is gone and I don't think it is gas. I did some research and there are several theories out there about the shoulder pain. Some believe that it is caused by the band puting preasure on the diaphram. This makes sense to me because when I take a deep breath the pain gets worse. This also might explain why it hurts during exercise. If you still have pain since October I would definitely talk to your Doctor. I see mine next week and he better have something helpful. I will have this band out before I have to put up with chronic pain!!! I was not in any pain before this and I just don't think the band is worth permanent pain. I am willing to try to do this on my own if I have to!:angry
Lynn0216 0 Posted December 24, 2007 I am having the same problem with the left shoulder pain. Mine started about a week after surgery. My gas pains were never in my shoulder but in my chest. Once that was gone or at least I thought it was gone, I started getting the shoulder pain. It almost feels like something is torn in there. I didn't have any problem with my shoulder prior to surgery and have not done anything to strain it since so I don't understand what the problem is. I am two weeks out from my surgery. If the pain lasts another week I will call my doctor about it.
