Hey guys! I'm new here so first I would like to say hello to everyone :)

I had my gastric sleeve done Aug 4th. At first I didn't struggle with keeping hydrated but the last few weeks I have been struggling getting in about 40-45oz a day. I try my hardest to keep drinking Water, but sometimes I will catch myself just carrying around my water bottle but forgetting to actually drink. I hardly feel thirsty which I think is my problem.

Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone have any advice for me?

I'm bad at remembering to sip sip sip all day like is recommended. So I'll instead set goals for myself like within the next half hour I'll drink my entire 12oz bottle of Gatorade zero. And I'll go through the day drinking bigger chunks every so often instead of constantly sipping.

In the first few months post surgery i set a timer on my watch to remind me to drink.

I am just 2 weeks out, and I haven't had any issues yet, but maybe you're just not into Water right now? Have you tried drink mix packets in your water? I find that I get sick of plain water so I make sure a lot of my Fluid is Decaf coffee mixed with Protein Shake, or water with a drink mix packet (I don't like Crystal Light but the Starburst ones are great!). I am able to get about 80oz of water or more a day if I like what I'm drinking. Also, consider the temperature. Would an insulated thermos help it be more appealing?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
