lizonaplane 1,613 Posted September 22, 2021 You should contact your surgery center (or your doctor) to speak to a physical therapist to get exercises that are appropriate to your situation. It would be inappropriate for people on the internet to give you advise without knowing what you are healthy enough for. Good luck on your journey!!! 1 Summermoose reacted to this
TheRealMeIsHere! 863 Posted September 22, 2021 Congrats on beginning this journey! In the beginning it seems overwhelming, set small, manageable goals and non-food rewards for reaching them. That makes it much easier. Follow your surgeon's diet plan. At first it is very difficult as you will have head hunger, serious cravings. Drink Water, read, adult coloring books, apps on your phone, other hobbies, can all help you get past those first few weeks. THEN you will have lost a significant amount, mostly water, but still, it feels amazing to see the pounds go away! A mantra I kept telling myself is "carbs beget carbs" this helped a lot. As I thought about having an old FAV, I'd be reminded that it will only make my cravings worse. Yes, absolutely consult with your doctor and get an RX for PT. Ask the therapist, specifically, to show you things that you can do at home, safely. Therabands might be a start, but I've no idea what strength you'd begin with, that's where PT comes in. 2 huskymama and lizonaplane reacted to this
vikingbeast 987 Posted September 22, 2021 As others have said, it's best to ask for help from a professional. Take heart—it IS possible, and you'll gain strength which will help with the weight, even if all you're doing is muscle stretches. Everyone has to start somewhere, and you made up your mind to do it—that's the hardest part. 1 lizonaplane reacted to this
learn2cook 588 Posted September 22, 2021 I’m tempted to say, “anything you can do.” I still would consult a doctor. That’s what my doc told me. Flop around in bed, flop around the house, lift each arm or leg and do 2-4 lifts to get started, head too. Just ask your doc first!

ShoppGirl 5,004 Posted October 7, 2021 I agree it’s best for everyone to consult a doctor before beginning exercise. It’s too easy to hurt yourself. If you just call them they can probably set you up with a physical therapist (possibly even one that will come to your home). 1 learn2cook reacted to this
GradyCat 3,695 Posted January 7, 2022 I think everybody's right, you need to consult your doctor first because we don't want to tell you to do anything that's going to hurt you. But I would think arm and upper body exercises would be do-able in bed. Just check with your doctor's office first, okay? Congrats on your decision to get active! huskymama 149 Posted January 8, 2022 Sometimes they can get physical therapy out to your house to work with you and teach you how to do exercises safely. I would call your dr and ask if you could get a referral for PT
MdarkKreller 0 Posted February 1, 2022 I believe in you, just any exercises so that you get tired, and then go to the gym and do nutrition, good luck to you
