My job gave us a Panera gift card for job appreciation. I'm at 6 weeks from surgery date not sure about using the gift card. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

I usually get Soup if I eat at Panera. I really liked the turkey chili. Here’s a link to their nutritional information

Look for something that makes good leftovers too. I had to go out for pizza with co-workers and just ordered a side of meatballs. For some reason, the side was 12 meatballs and sauce; it took me 3 days to finish them off between lunches and dinners! I wouldn't get a sandwich or anything since they typically don't hold up well. I think the turkey chili suggestion is a good one. Otherwise, you could always hold onto the gift card until you're eating a wider variety of food.

I was going to suggest the turkey chili as well. It usually comes out right around this time of year.

I would either hold the card for a little while more, or get a variety of Soups and freeze them until you feel ready. I'm close behind you (5 weeks PO) and my tummy would not be up to any Panera food just yet.

I was going to say treat yourself to something…a mani pedi or a cute new outfit and give the gift card to someone else.

I have not tried to eat out yet but the Soups seems like an easy way to order something without fear of problems. I think a piece of fish like cod or flounder is a pretty good bet too since it is so soft and stays pretty moist after cooking.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
