Tysheena84 33 Posted September 15, 2021 I have Tricare and my surgeon told me that I had to do the “program” for 3 months. However, anyone using Tricare ACTUALLY had to wait that long? I have documented weights from PCP dating back to 2016. We’re there any issues getting approved with Tricare? All advice is welcomed. Thanks in advance 😊
GreenTealael 25,430 Posted September 15, 2021 Did they tell you what the “program”included? Classes? All specialists and preop appointments? If the surgeon created that timeline (vs insurance approval) you may not be able to speed it up. Sadly, Insurance approval is only submitted when all of the requirements are completed. I believe the average time insurance has to return any authorization is 30 days or less from the time the request is submitted but definitely check your policy to make sure. ❤️
catwoman7 11,220 Posted September 15, 2021 (edited) pretty much all clinics require a few months of classes and clearance testing. The insurance company should know this since they've covered bariatric patients in the past. Edited September 15, 2021 by catwoman7
