Liney_92 0 Posted September 12, 2021 I’m so glad I’ve found this site! I know no one who’s had this surgery so I’ve got no one to ask so I’m hoping you lovely people can help. I’m 9 days post surgery and so far everything seems to be going well, except I can’t stop burping, is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this
ms.sss 15,724 Posted September 12, 2021 From what I understand, yes...very normal. I'm almost 3 years out and can STILL rival the burpings of a teenage boy. 2 FutureSylph and Liney_92 reacted to this
ShoppGirl 5,023 Posted September 12, 2021 I haven’t noticed it myself but have read many stories on here of excessive gas post op.
vikingbeast 987 Posted September 13, 2021 My surgeon warned me about this—they pump you full of gas (CO2) to be able to operate and it has to come out... walking helps (he insists that his patients walk 1 minute for every 15 minutes they're awake) and also if you can get simethicone—here in the US it's branded as Gas-X, not sure about the UK. Liney_92 0 Posted September 13, 2021 They told me I’d be burping and passing wind a lot at first because of the gas but I can’t imagine it’ll still be the gas 10 days later so I was just wondering if this is my life now lol

I am right at 2 weeks post op and I don't have quite as much gas. But...think about it. Your stomach is smaller so there is less volume to hold any gas created, so you will burp a little more than you may have before. I am not really experiencing anything too out of control as I go into normal type foods.
