Shrinkingvee 9 Posted October 29, 2021 Yes we are all different, I was given a basic plan but barely any choice and then told I can start soft foods early I’m 3 weeks post op Monday. we only had fluids for 1 day then it’s puréed for up to 4 weeks then soft foods 4-8 weeks then 8 weeks normal foods. I’ve tried flaked salmon, cucumber thin without the skin, ham cut in tiny pieces, I seemed to have gone off eggs which I used to love. crisp bread with reduced fat laughing cow triangles or with marmite or Avocado , I have Protein juice as it’s easier to drink than Water and helps me get my fluids in. I wish you the best of luck. we are on to our new life now! there isn’t any support here just a 6 week check so before the. You are on your own except if you want to ask a question. I have a nutrition lady who for 1 month before gave me a full diet plan on what I liked then 3 days before it was Water and 3 Protein Shakes a day. Had bypass on 6th For 2 days Water only then a week of 2 shakes and Fluid. Then onto puree now on soft food. I'm struggling with eating meat so sticking with vegetable based meals as that sits better with me I am on 7-8 tiny meals a day. Big love to all on our epic journeys Xxx You say vegetable based. Are you adding Beans? If not, They are a great source of Protein if meat is not sitting well.

You really don’t need anything if you’re not staying over night. Just bring comfort clothes to pull on when you’re leaving. 1 hesco0 reacted to this

Thanks! You don’t need anything as they’ll provide you with everything except for a cpap machine if your using one. Depending on your procedure your doing you may stay a night or two. I was brought in on the 27, but I had a DS with a sleeve revision so my stay is still going. I’m having trouble with the phase 1 with drinking I can’t drink it down. My doctor said my procedure was pretty smooth but extensive. And he said it’ll take some time to get to regular and he said I should be ok to head out tomorrow. He said if I only had the DS I should have been good earlier today. Wishing you good luck 🤞 1 AmyB2006 reacted to this

My surgery was in March but I may be able to help. I packed toiletries but I wasn’t allowed to shower till the third day. I only ended up staying one night so I didn’t need those. I wore the same comfy clothes home that I wore to the hospital (with fresh undergarments). I was glad I had an extra long charging cable for my iPad and phone. I used the iPad because I brought it but would’ve been fine with just my phone since I slept most of the time. I did also Use my Bluetooth earbuds to listen to NetFlix at night so it would block out some of the noise since I am a super light sleeper. I was also glad someone here told me to bring pajama pants to wear while walking The halls. That way I didn’t have to deal with a robe over all the tubes and wires but my bottom was covered. Other than that they really do provide you with everything you need. They have to take your bag in preop and keep track of during surgery and until they find a room for you so try not to overpack. I brought a really small duffel I had from when I actually went to the gym and they said thank you for packing light. Ooh and you may want to just leave your jewelry at home. They make you take it off and they ask that you not bring valuables. 1 AmyB2006 reacted to this

You might not be in a private room. I forgot these bc I was spoiled from my previous surgery. 1 AmyB2006 reacted to this

But I was recently cleared for eggs, tuna & flaky fishes! What stage they have you in? Mine was in the second week for 4 days I didn’t lose a pound after losing really quick after surgery but I’ve heard there is a stall. but it’s just the shock of surgery that causes. Really fast weight loss then as your body gets used to food you will still lose but it won’t be as quick but far quicker if you didn’t have it done. I eat flaky fish and I tried egg, egg doesn’t quite sit right for me yet and I now hate scrambled egg which I used to love, that sucks, I’m in the uk. we only had fluids the first day here then puréed now soft. enjoy your flaked foods just take it slow. move had to learn to put your spoon down in between chew 20 times then you can wait 30 seconds for the next bite. im still struggling with some I tried to chop chicken up into teeny pieces but even chewing that it doesn’t sit right yet. mum obviusky not ready for that yet. I can eat cracker crisp bread with laughing cow triangle or Marmite which is yeast extract, I have tried cucumber without the peel that was nice very thinly sliced. mom 3 weeks Monday post surgery and I feel like I’m starting to get used to it. I hope things go smoothly for you. mom here if you need to chat. I need the support too! wr are all in this together! 😀
