Hello,

I am week 4 from my surgery and am really tired a lot. I work from home 10 hours most days. This makes it really difficult to get to the gym. My Dr said it will get better. Anyone else have these issues.

Thanks

Yes, I’m almost at 4 weeks and I’m tired too. Just less energy which I’m trying to make it look like I’m cool and low key at work. I have increased my Protein intake, but I put on pajamas when I get home. I think it’s normal because we’re still healing. I feel like I’m 80% there and getting better. I’m enjoying the weight loss and no hunger!

I would say that happens to most of us. Actually, after most major surgeries - not just WLS. My mother-in-law just had hernia surgery and a bowel resection two weeks ago, and she's still exhausted most of the day. Surgery is really tough on your body.

that said, I felt like I'd turned the corner after about the third week. I was still tired a lot, but at least i could function (and go back to work). It probably took about two months before I felt totally back to normal, though.

Yes initially I felt the same way. It does pass overtime as the body adjusts. Just focus on good nutrition and Vitamins and try to get in steps each day even just walking around the neighborhood. Best of luck to you and believe me, you've got this!

Don't worry about going to the gym yet. Just walk, increasing the distance a little bit every day. You won't want to go to the gym until your incisions are healed and you are back to your normal energy.

Common I think. For the first 2-3 months, was tired nearly every afternoon and whenever I did anything strenuous. It gets better. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
