Noises after a fill, to tight?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone...

I was banded on 10/5/07... 1st fill was 11/6/07, he put in 2 cc's & it was way to tight, I could not even swallow 1 sip of water... he took out 1 cc at that time... it was going great then about 2 weeks out the hunger came back strong... I went to see the doc on 12/6, he gave me 1cc fill.. again I could not swallow & I made awful gurgling noises, he said you may have air in it... he moved the needle around & took out the 1cc & yes there was air in it... he put 1/2 cc back in... I could swallow & drink that water... So I went home... It seems I can only eat a tiny tiny bit now, since I have had the band I could never eat this little, but that is ok because I am not hungry.. BUT, now every time I eat there are awful noises & grumbling noises coming from my stomach... It almost sounds like I am growling or getting ready to burp but no burp... my stomach starts to hurt a little after I eat... but the noises are bad... I have to eat with clients & I have not gone out because I do not want them to hear it... I also have a Christmas party & I am terrified of people hearing these noises... ohhh and I have not told anyone I work with I had this done so I can not blame it on the band... any one had the same thing???

I know exactly what you are talking about. Some days are worse than others. Sorry, but I have no solutions for you. When I am out with others, I eat very small bites and very, very slowly.

I had my first fill on Dec 15th (3cc, then 1.5 cc removed), and I experienced the same gurgling effects.

My doctor said that some people just have this reaction to fills at first. After a few days, the gurgling subsided for the most part... but I do still have days when I feel like I should just drink a glass of liquid Draino... because I sound like a stopped up kitchen sink... lol

I have no idea how you can hide it... nor explain it if you do not want people to know you are banded. Personally, I am so thrilled with being banded that I tell everyone I meet... lol

Plus, I was afraid that if I didn't tell people... they might think I was "sick" or doing drugs or something when I started losing a lot of weight...

Anyone have a problem like mine, will you help me? I had my band 10 22 07 and was first filled 12 8 07 and again 1 8 08, and still fill hungry. It fills tight like i have to take small bites and eat slow, but I can eat a lot. I am worried that something is wrong.

I went through the same thing, you just need to get more in your band if you can eat more than you think you should be able to. Just before this last fill (I was at 5.5 cc in my 10cc band- I now have 7.5 in my band) anyway, just before this last fill I could eat a 10oz steak (no joke). NOW, I am lucky to finish 1oz of a Protein. Hang in there, some of us just need more in our band to feel real restriction.

I have not had a fill since 12/6 & the noises are still there & still so loud. you can hear it from across the room. I sound like a dinosaur! I chew chew chew... I eat slow... I guess I need to call the doc but I am afraid he will want to take out some fill & then I will be totally hungry again.... what to do what to do what to do???

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
