Band Slippage

Recommended Posts

SueSue,

I'm starting to think I may know. My band seems like it is getting slowly tighter. I have a feeling that my fill doctor is going to make me have exrays next time I go in to see him. When I was in getting an unfill befor thanksgiving the doctor said that if you pib or get sick really hard that can make the band slip. I did that when I tried to eat a chile dog. I only got three bites down befor all of it came back up.

What was I thinking.

From what I can research, band slippage symptoms are nausea and vomiting.

This last week I went to the doctor due to excessive heartburn and not being able to eat enough. I was losing really fast (at least 7 lbs a week). I know I never thought I would complain about losing weight but when you buy a pair of jeans and they fit and the next week they are falling off of you there is an issue. So, I went and they x-rayed me and found out I had a slippage. I had a cold back in August and due to excessive coughing I now have a slippage and have had one for a while. I am now on a liquid diet for 7 days and a mushy diet for the next 7 days to see if the diet fixes it, which they are confident it will. So, hope this helps and that you start to feel better.

Dieta:)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
