Arabesque 7,414 Posted August 31, 2021 A change in your tastebuds & sometimes your sense of smell is very common after surgery making some foods taste &/or smell disgusting. It does pass. 1 Aye31 reacted to this
Stalled 32 Posted August 31, 2021 4 years after VSG and I still can't drink Gatorade. Tomato sauce and ketchup are hit-or-miss. 1 Aye31 reacted to this
Soon2bFit21 109 Posted August 31, 2021 First 2 months were like that for me, I had major taste and smell changes that were too numerous to list. 5 months out and almost all is back to the normal except I still can’t stand coffee in the morning. I grab an occasional iced Decaf now, but it’s a very rare craving. I don’t care for yogurt since the first portion of my diet or refried Beans. Just reminds me too much of how bad food tastes post surgery. 1 Aye31 reacted to this
River Moon 52 Posted August 31, 2021 I have experienced this too. This last weekend I was with family and they were passing around a box of cheez-its. I have always loved cheez-its so when they first pulled out the box I got worried that I was going to be feeling bummed that I couldn't eat any. But, then I smelled them as they were passing them around. Suddenly, one of my favorite crackers disgusted me. The smell was not anything pleasant and it shocked me, 'cause I have always enjoyed them. Ultimately, it was a good thing for me, as I had zero cravings for them. 2 Aye31 and Arabesque reacted to this
