You're weak and dizzy because your calorie intake is way lower than you're used to. Your stomach is swollen from surgery still. Each day will get easier, just try to remember to take tiny sips throughout the day so you stay hydrated.

Just try to hang in there. Each and every day it gets a little easier. Some of us have a slower recovery than others but you will get there. Just take lots of tiny- tiny sips.

Hi, I felt like that, but read on here that it could be lack of Protein, I got some great Protein Shakes off Amazon that contains 40g , honest I feel so much better now, 1 first thing in the morning and one mid afternoon, my dizziness, light head, and tiredness has 95% gone

Hang in there. Don't think how you feel now is going to be your long-term experience. The first couple of weeks were rough for me too, but it gets better quickly. Hugs! 🤗

Thanks guys just come home from being discharged feom hospital as I needed IV fluids, IV Vitamin B, and being heavily constipated didnt help. I have been taking 60g Protein each day woth milk 3 times a day. But I gues I was only really managing 600 mls flui a day. I bought Huel High Protein which i got fed up off. And tried to make salmon broccoli Soup and obviously was too early to blend and try some so i vomited n hence Constipation and dehydration on top of that.

That first week can be really challenging. You are so limited with what you can have, and even what you can have can be difficult to get down. As others have said, it gets easier. I am little over a month out and just started the modified regular diet, it is still tricky to get used to this new way of eating, but by far much easier than those first few weeks. Once you start getting some of the purées & soft foods in, you should start to get more energy. It will take time to heal & get used to your new stomach. I hope you start feeling better soon!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
