So I’m 36 and worried about loose skins so I’m testing to see how bad was loose some for those in their 30s. I think I have between 80-100 lbs to lose.

In your 30's you have a much better chance of having some elasticity left in your skin than I did in my 60's. I'm in the process of having all my loose skin removed. The plan is a 3 step process and I just did step 2 last Monday. Only thing left is thighs. Not sure when that will be done yet.

it varies a lot - depending on your age, how overweight you were, how long you were overweight, for example. You have your age going for you, so like Lynnlovesthebeach said, it probably won't be as bad as it is for someone in their 60s. I had surgery in my late 50s and lost over 200 lbs. I had tons of loose skin (which has since been removed), but even before it was removed, it was easy to hide in clothes. I was the only one who knew it was there (well, and my husband and doctor, of course). Here is a picture of me BEFORE I had it removed. As you can see, it was very easy to hide. You'd never know that I looked like a Sharpei puppy under those clothes - but I did!

I like your sharpei puppy reference! That's the one I always use too. So, I just got my sharpei puppy back taken care of last Monday, along with a breast lift. Next step...thighs!

At 36 you might not have too much of a problem with loose skin over the long term, but even if you do, you can hide it with Shapewear or remove it with surgery. Don’t let the fear of loose skin dissuade you.

I am 42 and have lost 50 pounds and do not seem to have any loose skin so far. I have 25 more pounds to goal though so idk if it happens more at the end of weight loss or if you can tell while still losing.

In my 30s I lost 100 lbs and I didn't notice any loose skin, but I was still overweight at my lowest and started regaining pretty soon, so I don't know if I would have had loose skin if I had gotten down lower. I'm 41 now, so I don't know if I'll have loose skin or how much I'll lose after sleeve.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
