I am doing okay. I am just trying to navigate what does this sensation mean? when to know if I've drank too much or too fast. Trying to listen to my body. I'm healing pretty fast. I've not really been too hungry, at least that's what I think is going on untill I smell someone cooking something in the house or I see my son bring home a pizza! Lol!

For me it took just a few days to get rid of the gas pain in my shoulder, but when I would sip too big a sip, I had similar pain, and I had a lot of passing gas for the first two weeks. At first this hurt.

Surgery was 9/21 and I has gas pains for a solid 5 days. I kept up on the Gas-X every few hours, walking, sitting/sleeping upright (no laying flat), and drinking as much Water as I could manage. A heating pad can help too. Eventually it worked its way out, but it does take time. If its really bad, you can take Tylenol or whatever pain meds the surgeon gave you. Like @lizonaplane said, it might also be pain from drinking. Make sure you are dinking slow, taking small sips, avoiding swallowing air, and so on. I've noticed my "fullness" queue seems to feel an awful lot like gas pain right in my chest. Its tricky getting to know the new plumbing, it just takes time.

Thanks This was very helpful, I don’t naturally burp or pass gas to often do I’m trying to figure the best way for it to be released lol. I appreciate the great tips I am taking a gas x now.

Thank you for the insight, I will be sure to keep an eye out for the sipping sizes

Thank you so much for the tips, I will definitely take another gas x right now, I’m hoping for a quick release of the gas within the next few days, that’s the most uncomfortable part

Hey September buddies, very fortunate to have come across this page. I had my surgery on 9-3-21, almost 1 month post op. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's progress. I am currently on stage 3 of my diet which is chicken, cheese, turkey, and other things. I am so happy to be out of my liquid lol, sugar free Popsicles were my best friend. I am currently down 40 pounds, I just have a fear that I will not keep losing weight and I do not know why? I can currently only take about 3 bites of food and I feel stuffed. I should be eating about 3 times a day and my problem is I do not get hungry.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
