does anyone have feelings for their lapband doctor?

Recommended Posts

Well, it is official. I have developed a serious crush on my lapband doctor. I wondered if this has happened to anyone else and what they did about it? I am having "marital issues" which could be attributing to these feelings toward him. When I go for follow up appointments I am so afraid I am going to say something really stupid and mess up the doctor - patient relationship we currently have which by the way is awesome. With his help my lap band results have been outstanding so far and I want to keep being successful.

Please help.

Its not uncommon - my ob/gyn was a bit of allright, lol. But he wasnt exactly seeing me at my best....

You put a lot of faith in many medical professionals, particularly when it involves something very personal or emotional and when they treat you with compassion and respect, not like one of a million patients, its quite natural to develop feelings for them.

I'm not sure what you can do about it, lol.

Oh Dr. Applebaum...

I have a HUGE crush on my surgeon!! He is so handsome, nice, gentle guy. He ran his hands through my hair during our first meeting, hes just got this way of making me feel safe.

In any case, I am sure it will fade, as I know he has a family and at least one daughter. But JESUS he is handsome.

My lapband doctor is a totally hotty. My girlfriend who was banded always tells him "if you were single, etc, etc". He blushes. I always remember he already saw me naked! What a hunk I'll tell you. Smile

Ick.. I couldn't have a hot guy doctor, especially one that was looking at me down there or naked. LOL. No way... Good luck with your crush!

Well my surgeon is hot in a subtle way although to me he is the most amazing man I have ever met. He has so much passion for the obese and he never passes judgement on his patients. He never seems "grossed out" by the way we look. Some of his patients are not very educated and he never seems that any of that matters to him. He has a wonderful sense of humor that he brings out in his support meetings. We look forward to our monthly meetings so much. As you can see I am quite smitten by him. He is "hot" not because of his looks(although his looks are just fine) but because he is the way he is - so caring and so supportive. Plus he has the best "hands" I have ever come across.

It is unethical for doctors to get involved with their patients (it may happen but its icky) so I'd tell myself it will never happen and move on

good luck!

I wonder if its a combo of what the other posts said, but also if you feel like he's the only one that helped you when everything (diet wise) else failed. You've lost soooo much weight, and basically because you had to count on someone else to insert your band?!?

Of course it will never happen. I am married. The doctor is married. It's a crush that's all.

thanks

I haven't even seen my doctor since surgery. The PA's seem to do all the follow up stuff.

I just wanted to say I'm glad to see you posting, Shelli! You are doing awesome!!! I'm sorry to hear things aren't going well at home. :(

Will you get to see your son for X-Mas?

Hi Candle,

How was your trip to Florida? Did you have fun? Did things go well?

My son was home from Phoenix at Thanksgiving. He looked wonderful and is doing so well although he is still looking for that special lady. He sure does have a tough time in the love department. He thought I looked awesome and watched my plate everytime I went to eat. I think he is kind of proud of me. His firm works 24/7 so he signed up to work the phones on Christmas Eve and Christmas Evening. He can't make it home for Christmas. We are going to Phoenix in March and at that time I hope to weigh close to 250 so I fit better in the airline seat. Thanks for remembering about my son.

You are doing awesome Candle. In my surgeons office he doesn't have any fill assistants. There are only two Bariatric Surgeons in my whole city and my surgeon is the only one that does the lap bands so I guess he has the time. When will you get your next fill? I cannot believe the difference between the first and second fills. I have so much restriction now. Rarely get hungry or cravings. It is awesome and so amazing. Everyone is noticing and I have dropped three dress sizes. I can't wait to get under 300 pounds. I am hoping to do this by the first of the year.

So good to hear from you too!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
