I mean that wouldn’t be too appealing to eat after stuffing it down into a cup. Lol. If I’m eating something with a higher carb content like bread I measure by calories and macros because how much I can physically eat is often different than how much I can eat to stay in maintenance or weightloss mode. 2 Maisey and Arabesque reacted to this

During my initial consultation with the weight loss center doctor, I decided I'd probably try a medication (Wegovy). I haven't taken that medication and I still need to discuss the possibility of surgery with my doctor. In the meantime I've been doing a lot of research (Googling) to get an idea of what life would be like after surgery. While researching, it occurred to me that I probably should buy a good blender or stick blender for food preparation, especially during the stages when you must eat soft, mushy, liquified foods (ugh). That got me to thinking, what other things should I know about before-hand, in order to be prepared. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I also used food scales and measuring cups. Another thing I loved was a water bottle with measurements so you can track your liquids too

It was handy and a great way to know how you were doing at a glance, but now I use the Baritastic app to track 8 ounce increments.

I personally don’t know anyone still using diet pills after surgery but if you struggle with any addiction you probably should seek treatment separately. I have 2oz disposable containers, never used them. They gave me a number of medicine cups when I was discharged, just used those the first few days. I have electrolytes, never needed, I drank fluids fine. I got compression socks - didn’t need, just used the ones from surgery. Your tastes can change, so only get a few of something, because you might find you don’t want it after surgery. This advice is perfect! I'm almost 3 years out and the only things I still use are... a scale and Vitamins. But a food scale, blender, Protein Shakes, and lots of bottled Water were all good tools along the journey. I'd avoid buying a lot of anything or paying a lot for anything until you know you want it. 1 pk88 reacted to this

Starwarsandcupcakes 2,071 Posted August 25, 2021 (edited) Things I still use almost 2 years out- Protein shakes- I have one almost daily in my coffee as Creamer food scale- if I’m not confident in portion or need a reset to stay in maintenance then I use it, otherwise I’ve gotten pretty good at eyeballing it (I’ve used a scale for years before surgery for baking and portioning dough). blender- I use it almost every day. I make a green smoothie with spinach, kale, almond or soy milk, frozen fruit and Protein Powder. Travel mug- I enjoy warm liquids more than cold so I have broth almost every day along with coffee (not mixed together) so the mug keeps things warm. My C3PO thermos- holds 10oz so it’s perfect for Soups (I eat Soup a lot!) and it fits great in my lunchbox standing up. Blender bottles- these are more for portability than mixing as I might have the balls somewhere in a drawer 🤷♀️ They just make it easy to take my smoothie or a blended coffee with me on the go. As you go along you’ll eventually find what works for you and keeps you successful. I think it varies a bit by person but the end goal is the same- being healthy.
