Christmas shopping sucks...

Recommended Posts

I haven't shopped in a mall for x-mas in YEARS.

Don't shop at mookiegifts.com though.. they took my $80 and disappeared, I don't even think they're still in business.

Amazon.com is good, we were able to knock on 70% of our shopping there. I also like E-bay too (yes I know, e-bay is evil!).

I LOVE AMAZON! I have done 95% of my Christmas shopping there this year. They almost always have the best price, and it's reliable. I shop Amazon.com all year long, and I keep a perpetual wish list on there, as well as gift ideas for the people in my life. It sends me reminders 3 weeks prior to their special days, birthdays, anniversaries, etc, and I add things as I find them to their gift idea lists, so when I get the reminder for someone's birthday, I already know what to get them. It's AWESOME!!! They have by far one of the best websites out there for online shopping.

Is it really less expensive? I have been searching for something for my son in law, and it was quite a bit more expensive than what I could have gotten it for, if I had shopped earlier. It was on sale about a month ago for $120 but I was too lazy to go shopping.

It's called a Tom Tom- a GPS navigation system.

I want to become an online shopper, because I absolutely hate

Christmas shopping. Plus I live in the middle of nowhere, and I don't have good stores here.

I like shopping in real life. I am one of those who likes to touch the goods before she buys. I am really fussy about how things feel and how they are made; this includes shoes and handbags. And I need to try stuff on now that I have lost weight. I no longer have any idea as to what is going to fit.

And I am fond of shopping in either independent boutiques where I can find unusual stuff or plowing through sale sections and the discount stores. Of course living in the heart of a large city where the public transit is safe makes this very easy for me. I can either walk or take transit just about everywhere. In fact I do a lot of walking while I am shopping.

My mother-in-law, who lives in the suburbs, is often envious of my stuff. I invite her to come downtown for a shopping day but she never does. I have never actually bought anything on-line.

my wife and i use Amazon all the time...i love the product reviews. i compare prices on a lot of things, and when i decide which one i like i order it, but if it's close in price at target, Walmart or bestbuy i go to the store knowing exactly what i'm getting. they are all at the same big intersection 2 miles from my house...zip in and zip out. i rarely buy anything big without checking amazon reviews.

I might add that I NEVER buy clothes, shoes, bedding or towels unless I can put my hands on it and/or try it on first. I'm all about how clothing feels, and that applies to bedding and towels as well. If it doesn't feel good, I won't buy it, no matter how good a deal it is.

add circuit city to the same intersection...just found out there is a new one opening soon. this is especially good as they seem to have lower prices on big screens, and i am collecting gift cards.

I think that's a wonderful policy, especially when purchasing a delicious, chocolate-covered Marine! :faint:

Seriously, some things I feel comfortable buying on-line, but other things I would want to get in person. books and DVDs for example. I don't feel a pressing need to fight the crowds if I'm looking for specific titles. I'd much rather get them shipped right to my door! :clap2:

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
