Hi All

im due for surgery on 19th Aug, I’m really confused about intake of liquids after surgery…… Breakfast? ??? If I have a smoothie, how much should it be for each serving, should they be very runny same with Soups, I’m planning on making soups b4 I go in and freezing them, but again how much to put in each pot

i have a lap band, 12 years now, nothing but problems, so changing to sleeve, I have lost 5 stone, currently weigh 13 stone, and really don’t want to lose huge amounts, 2 stone, so also worried about that……… I’m just worried lol

really I want it all, 2 stone weight loss, keep it stable, and to eat normal small meals, without having to run to the bathroom every time I eat, which is what happens with the band

sorry jumped from one thing to another

You really should check with your doctor, because many doctor's have different plans post-op. My doctor recommends 80g of Protein per day, and the largest amount to take at any time is 4oz. Soup was not part of my choices, except a tiny bit right after surgery. And yes, everything needed to be liquid or very mush like scrambled eggs.

As above, I recommend talking to your doctor as everyone seems to get different plans based on third individual circumstances.

I was only allowed Clear Liquids for the first two days then Meal Replacement shakes or thin and completely blended Soups for the first two weeks. I was told to sip 30ml per 20 minutes to get my soup/shake/water down. After a week I could manage about 50ml per 30 minutes. Also, I could only get through about 2 shakes a day in the first week.

It took me about 60 days to work up to getting 60 grams of Protein each day and my Water goals. Now just over 5 months out I average about 80 to 90 grams of protein per day.

I think the key is to not rush and just let your body heal.

Hope it all goes really well and good luck with it all :)

I would definitely schedule an appointment with your nutritionist or your team. It’s most important that you follow YOUR doctors plan so if you have any complications they can more easily narrow it down because you are in a certain stage that they have seen time and time again with other patients (if that makes sense).

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
