skinny onboard 3 Posted August 7, 2021 Hey y’all, hope everyone is good. Quick question please, what’s the best way to lose weight after vsg and also does eating less than 500 calories slow down your weight loss in general? 1 GreenTealael reacted to this
FutureSkyDiver 76 Posted August 7, 2021 Follow the plan given to you by your surgeon or nutritionist/dietitian. If you didn’t get one, find a bariatric nutritionist/dietitian and get a plan. Post-op nutrition is tricky because you need to get in Protein, Vitamins, and minerals essential to life, but you can’t eat very much. The foods must be nutrient dense and are often very different from what you were eating pre-op. For me, 500cal a day was not enough post-op, I kept getting dizzy when I ate that little. 1 GreenTealael reacted to this
WanderingHeart 141 Posted August 8, 2021 Most surgeons give you a plan that starts with a liquid phase. That is for allowing your stomach to heal, but it may end up being less than 500 calories per day. Depending on the plan they give you and how your body adjusts, you may be eating 500-700 during those transitional weeks after surgery. i never track calories, personally. I listen to my body’s signs of fullness and prioritize Protein and fresh vegs and fruit. It is possible that consuming too few calories will actually result in your body stalling because it will think you are starving and go into survival mode. 2 skinny onboard and GreenTealael reacted to this
