Hi all. Is it normal to feel very tied & get tired out very fast when doing anything. Im 2 weeks out and I feel like I may be failing myself by not pushing harder. I was never one to exercise ever. But even little things like house work are so tiring. Should I push harder at this point or should I still be taking my time with this due to healing ? Any advice would be welcome [emoji4]

Yeah I was kinda tired and sluggish until I got to the puree/soft food stages which provided substantially more food/nourishment. I was on full liquids for the first two weeks after surgery and for 11 days BEFORE so all together that was almost 4 weeks of nothing but liquids so yeah, I was tired too. LOL

Listen to your body. You just had major surgery. If you feel tired take a break. I took naps even.

yes. Very common. In fact, it's pretty common after most major surgeries. The trauma to your body really takes a lot out of you. I think I tired easily for the first couple of months - although it was definitely worse the first couple of weeks. It gradually got better and better

Oh yeah, very common. Makes sense when you think about. Major surgery, healing, low calorie diet, emotions likely up & down, etc. Lethargy & general lack of energy should be expected. I mean when we get the flu, we’re always told to rest. You’ve had a huge chunk of your tummy removed, so I think you’re allowed to be tired. I spent a lot of time on my couch the first two weeks then it took me a few months to get my energy fully back. We all heal & recover differently so you may be ok in a couple of weeks or may need a couple of months. Take the time you need.

Good luck.

BTW I used to mix up a bottle of hydralyte everyday - the electrolytes used to give me an extra boost.

Im almost 4 months out and I be so tired/sluggish at times. I do not like it but its worth it in the end. Hopefully it fades away eventually.

I slept easily 15 hours a day for the first three weeks after surgery--12 hours at night, plus multiple naps during the day. Everything made me tired. Not kidding--walking to the bathroom, getting a Protein Shake out of the fridge, walking to the end of my driveway, trying to read a book while sitting in the recliner...everything. You're healing. Your body needs the sleep. Listen to it.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
