Hello everyone! I'm new to the forum, and I am two weeks post-op. After surgery, I feel like my surgeon lacks the support I need. So, if I have a question I kind of refrain from asking him. So I thought I would ask on here.

Q: I am almost 3 weeks post op, and I stop losing weight. The day of surgery my weight was 251 and a week later I was 240. Now, my weight is just sitting at 241 no movement. I drink Water and broth mostly. I do Protein Shakes as well. Anyone else experience this?

I’m only two weeks out, but from reading these forums, it seems that nearly everyone experiences a stall at about the three week mark.

Okay. I thought I was going crazy, because I barley eat now. So why no weight loss?

Also, do you feel like food is stuck on your throat and won't go down and you can't bring it up?

How do you get out of it?

Just follow your plan. It will kick in.

three-week stall. If you search this site, you'll find something like 17,000 posts on it (and no, I am NOT kidding). It happens to almost everyone. Just stick to your plan, stay off the scale for a few days, and it'll eventually break (lasts 1-3 weeks, usually) and you'll be on your way again.

If it feels stuck, you have to just wait it out if you can't puke. You might try taking a walk, do not lie down it will turn into acid reflux.

Aren't you still on soft foods at this stage? You likely took that one too many last bites, we all have done it. You learn quickly to eat very slowly and stop after 4 bites and wait 5 minutes or more, then see if you are full at that point before taking more.

Still on full liquids. I start puree on Saturday.

I am feeling the same way!!!
I lost 8lbs in the first 4 days after surgery… then in the last 11 days I’ve only lost 2lb…

I was expecting it to drop more.. I spoke to my dietician and she said I’m doing really well with Protein (60g) a day and at about 1800-2000ml of Fluid a day. I’ve started walking and using my exercise bike more..

I really hope the stall doesn’t last long it’s disheartening as it makes you feel it was all a waste of time (and for me lots of money) 😞

You say 3 week stall, but I’ve stalled since week 1….

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
