Vitamin issue Celebrate

Recommended Posts

Hi, I just started a new Vitamin Celebrate One 45.
It’s a large capsule so I was surprised my dietician recommended it. I have been fine on the other Vitamins I have taken up until this one.
Within 20mins of taking it I got nauseated and just felt off. Has anyone had any issues with this one? Not sure if it’s bc it’s so big, or if just being new I need to get used to it. I have a call out to my dietician but she doesn’t call back for several weeks and my surgeon says call the dietician lol. Not sure if I should try it again tomorrow to see if I get used to it. The only time o ever had an issue with a Vitamin was when I took a Iron pill years ago and it instantly made me sick… maybe to much Iron in this? Any thoughts?

I’ve always got nauseous when taking Multi Vitamins even before surgery. Didn’t matter what brand. I wondered if it’s because I’ve never really needed to take them cause my blood work has always been good???? 🤷🏻‍♀️

People have mentioned Iron & my dietician said it can also be the B Vitamins (don’t know if it’s one specifically or a combination of them).

Make sure you have something solid in your tummy before you take it but I’d probably go back to taking your old vitamins until you’re dietician calls you back.

I stopped taking them once I hit maintenance with my surgeons ok. My blood work is still very good.

I'm not sure, but I get sick from Vitamins with Iron, also. I ended up buying capsules without iron, snd I can open them up and sprinkle the powder on applesauce. I hope you feel better soon!

Iron and B Vitamins (I think it's B1 - but I can't remember which "B" it is) can both make people nauseated. With iron, some forms are easier on G/I systems than others (e.g., carbonyl iron and heme iron -- there may be others, too), so you could always get a "senior" version of a multi (those usually don't contain iron - but check) and then take your iron separately. Not sure how to get around the issue if it's the B Vitamin that's doing a number on you, though I guess just try a different brand?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
