Jerri1wv 1 Posted July 20, 2021 I am down 90 pounds from my highest weight, and my "bat wings" are awful. I can't buy tops that fit because they are so big. I went to see a plastic surgeon and I do not have the money to pay for brachioplasty. I have had dreams about cutting them off myself. I get so depressed that I just want to put the weight back on because I feel like my arms looked better fuller. I am a high school English teacher and I do everything I can think of to keep from writing on the board because I don't want my students to see my arms flapping around. 1 LanaLee reacted to this
kristieshannon 1,668 Posted July 20, 2021 I feel for you, was there myself. I had a brachioplasty in January. It is so nice to feel comfortable wearing short sleeves & tank tops! You may want to check in to the cost of PS in other states. I had a Tummy Tuck, the brachioplasty, and breast lift/augmentation. It would have cost $30,000-$40,000 in my home state of Washington. I had it all done in Miami for $16,100. Just the arm lift would be less. Costs vary wildly across the country! In the meantime, be kind to yourself. You’ve lost 90lbs which is an awesome accomplishment! 2 Arabesque and STLoser reacted to this
Sleeve_Me_Alone 656 Posted July 20, 2021 Weight training can definitely help with the appearance of loose skin, especially on arms & legs. Building lean muscle mass helps "fill in" the loose skin, therefore reducing the saggy/flappy appearance. If you aren't currently doing any weight bearing exercises, it might be helpful. Results obviously don't happen overnight, but in time it can get better. 1 Kayla Joy reacted to this
GreenTealael 25,430 Posted July 20, 2021 Have you tried compression shirts yet? https://www.tommiecopper.com/womens-core-compression-long-sleeve-v-neck-shirt/ 1 hour ago, Jerri1wv said: I am down 90 pounds from my highest weight, and my "bat wings" are awful. Jerri1wv 1 Posted July 20, 2021 I haven't tried them. It would obviously be seen under dress clothes and I am afraid it would make me hot.
catwoman7 11,220 Posted July 21, 2021 I've had brachioplasty, but before that, I just wore 3/4 length sleeves (or longer). Yea - I didn't like being restricted to certain types of clothes, but I did what I had to do - no way would I have wanted to put the weight back on again, so ??? Hopefully you can find a solution. As kristieshannon said, prices are cheaper in some areas of the country (a few people on here have had it done in the Miami area) - and there's always Mexico, too. There are some excellent plastic surgeons there.
