Anyone having their surgery in September? I got my date today 4th September - can’t wait!

Any prep tips? Think the pre op diet is 2 weeks before - just after my 40th birthday. Phew. 😊

I'm scheduled for 9/21, but hoping I can get bumped up. I've been tracking all my food, trying to hit 70g Protein a day, taking my vitamins/calcium/collagen every day, and using Parodontax. My dr has recommended a 2 week pre-op liquid diet, so I'm slowly stocking up on shakes, broth, Jello, etc. I'm soooooo ready to just do the dang thing!

I know I felt a pang of disappointment when they gave the date as had hoped it was sooner! Pre op booked for 25 August and Covid Test for 1 Sept. I was given the option of a milk and yoghurt diet or a low cal (800) a day - 10 days pre op. Starting to stock up on Vitamins. Like you am sooooo ready to get this done! X

I just scheduled mine 9/7/21 here in San Antonio, TX with Dr. Pilcher. I'm racked with guilt and have felt sick about it all day. I feel like I'm going to bust out in hives. I'm cash pay and I feel so guilty for putting the family in a financial situation. But I fear I won't be here for my kids if I don't! How does one get over that!? - sorry for the pity party. I thought I'd be happier.

I'd love some tips on the food. I am allowed two shakes Snacks (sf Popsicles and sf Jello, celery) and a small meal at the end of the day.

My date is September 9th! Found out insurance approved me today and I’m hella excited! Pre op appointment is going to be on august 16, I’m literally shaking thinking about it
I know the feeling. After I scheduled mine I couldn't eat or not feel like vomiting for days. Now when I do think about it, it hits me but not as hard. I feel like I'm saying bye to food [emoji1787] it's like bittersweet! Keep us posted on your progress!! :)

My surgery, revision from sleeve to RNY, is on 9/20 and pre-op diet begins 9/6. I’m feeling all sorts of feelings; excitement, anxiety and a little apprehension. Good luck everyone! I look forward to reading about your progress.

I'm cash pay also, surgery scheduled for 8/26. I've also struggled with my decision to spend so much money on myself, but honestly, how much have we spent through the years on Weight Watchers, this diet plan, that diet plan, a nutritionist, gym memberships, diet bet...for me, the list goes on and on... (I even once signed up for 6 months of a service where I got blood glucose monitors for $200 a month, thinking if I could just see what my blood sugar was doing I could lose weight). And if we don't get the surgery, how much will we spend on health issues related to obesity? You're worth it. Don't feel guilty.

Thank you Colie. You're right. I have spent thousands already. Thank you, I needed that perspective. I can't wait to run again, and not because a bear is chasing me. I always hated running but now that I can't I dream of it. I am so looking forward to playing more with my kids [emoji7]

I am scheduled for 13Sep. I am getting anxious but right now work is going crazy so I'm trying to enjoy work because I won't enjoy having to take two weeks off to just sit and recover. And then I won't be able to fly for another two weeks! That's really going to cramp my style!

I'm also trying not to go too crazy with the food funerals because my pre-op diet starts 30Aug and my friend will be here from NC when I'm on pre-op. Usually we go out to Mexican and Indian when I visit him, but he's coming here so I can cook. I have no idea what I can cook that is on my pre-op diet (I can eat real food two meals a day, but it's ultra low carb and low fat).

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
