I had the sleeve surgery 2 days ago. I have been pretty nauseous the entire time since then. They gave me medications in the hospital which helped. Now I have to try to take the medicine they gave me to fight it off at home. The only problem is there are larger pills and I'm supposed to crush them. How do I take them once they're crushed? Will I have to mix them with Water? I'm really worried that it will taste disgusting and that will make me vomit. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions I would really appreciate it.

Try mixing the crushed meds in a couple of spoons of your shake or Soup. If you mix them in a small quantity of liquid you can sip it over a few minutes & ensure you’re getting the full dose. Plus the flavour of the soup or shake may help takeaway any unpleasant taste from the meds.

Once your swelling subsides, usually 3-5 days, you’ll be able to swallow the tablets.

Good luck & congrats on your surgery.

Welcome to the healing side of things. I am 1-week post op today and had this same issue. Just as Arabesque said, mixing them with your shake or some Soup is a great idea. My nutritionist also said using a little sugar free Jello works too. Jello essentially melts in our mouth and stomach so it's ok for phase 2. Congratulations and well wishes on your recovery.

I had to crush my pills for a week. I took them with yogurt. I would put a little yogurt in a spoon, add the crushed pills, then cover them up with yogurt. I tried to swallow the whole spoonful without letting the pills touch my mouth. It was a bit less disgusting that way.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
