Has anyone else belly got really swollen, as in flabby swollen? I’m 6 days post-op, it’s not painful, it’s just FLABBY! It’s NOT MY belly, I am concerned something may be wrong, any insight, expirience would help

I had the gastric sleeve, BTW. I have messaged my surgeon, they asked if I had fever or abdominal pain, I haven’t had either. I’m just in shock and awe at it

Yes, I had RNY and my belly got really swollen after especially after I had something with artificial sweeteners. They ran all the test CT scan nothing came up. I’m just really sensitive and had to wait for the swelling to go down and the sutures to heal. July 3rd I make 4 months out. Feeling fine now. It improved for me week 8.

My belly was really swollen for a good week after my bypass. It might be more trapped air from your surgery, along with general surgical swelling. Best to check with your surgeon. 😊

Do/did you have a drain post surgery? If not, you wouldn’t believe the amount of Fluid that comes out via the drain. If you don’t have one, the body will naturally absorb this over time, but this will sit in your abdomen and cause bloating and fluid build up initially.

I did not have drainage tubes post surgery. I'm glad for you all, I can't get an answer from my bariatric team. If this is normal, I can deal with it. It's just this "not knowing", if I look it up online, it directs me to "a leak". Which is SCARY. Does anyone know if there is something I can do to minimalize this? Extra fluids makes MUCH more sense than gas, I have NOT passed ALOT of gas since the surgery, just a "normal" amount.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
