gabbyd 13 Posted June 24, 2021 I am 3 months post op and I am just now starting to workout. Dr didn’t clear me for a while due to some abdominal pain I’d been having. Im eating a Protein Shake in the am, deli roll ups with cheese and veggies for lunch, chicken for dinner with veggies. I consume almost NO CARBS. I do about 30-45 minutes on the elliptical and I also walk a 2.25 mile bridge by my house. (3 times a week minimum) Sometimes i do the weight machines but I’m easing into that. And Im NOT LOSING A POUND. Been at a stall for 3-4 weeks now. I’ve actually gained a pound which blows my mind because im definitely in a calorie deficit. Anyone else experience this when they started working out? Words of encouragement? Advice? Tips? Please please please help!
lizonaplane 1,613 Posted June 24, 2021 I'm sorry you're going through this. Stalls do happen and they can be very frustrating and disheartening. It's possible you're not getting enough liquids or enough Protein. But you may be losing inches. Are you taking your measurements? You may be doing everything right and just be in a stall (gaining a pound could just be Fluid retention or lack of a BM that day - not a true weight gain). If it keeps up for a while, reach out to your nutritionist and discuss. I would also keep a food log or track your calories and liquids on an app so you can discuss with your nutritionist. Good luck! 1 gabbyd reacted to this
catwoman7 11,220 Posted June 24, 2021 it's a stall. Most of us experience several of them along our way. The bump up in weight is almost certainly due to Water retention or intestinal content rather than true weight since you're in calorie deficit. Give it a couple of days and that weight increase will probably be gone. as for the stall, they typically last 1-3 weeks. Just stick to your plan and stay off the scale for a few days. As long as you're not going off-plan, the stall will eventually break and you'll be on your way again. 1 gabbyd reacted to this
gabbyd 13 Posted June 24, 2021 Thanks so much for the responses! Sometimes it’s hard to get out of your own head and remain positive. 1 lizonaplane reacted to this
la0525 11 Posted June 24, 2021 I'm sorry you're going thru this. I just had surgery in March. I do find that when I "cheat" a little my scale suddenly moves again! Maybe you're not eating enough? I swear most times I do everything by the book and lose extremely slow!
