lizonaplane 1,613 Posted June 24, 2021 Welcome! Congrats on your weight loss so far. I can't answer if surgery is too painful because I haven't had surgery yet, but I know some people have more pain than other people. I've been preparing for surgery for five months and I'm ready for it to be "over" too! But it's never really over, it's a lifelong journey. I know what you mean; I'm ready for the surgery to be over - I'm so nervous about that part!
catwoman7 11,220 Posted June 24, 2021 pain is all over the board, but most of us have little to no pain with these surgeries. I had pretty much zero pain - I actually wondered if they actually did the surgery! But they'll send you home with pain meds, so if you're one of the unfortunate ones who does have pain, you'll have the meds to manage it.

What I can tell you is my pain was not that bad. But the nauseous feeling was terrible. I hated it.
Maisey 260 Posted June 24, 2021 I had bypass in December. I did not have much pain. I know it's hard to wait once you have your mind set on something. My advice is to use the time to learn all you can. Surgery changes your insides. It does not change your brain, your habits and your coping mechanisms. Am I glad I did it? Yes. Somedays it's easy. Other days are harder. 1 lizonaplane reacted to this
Bulabula 58 Posted June 25, 2021 I had DS three days ago. There’s some gas pain and uncomfortable pain to be tolerated. Nothing excruciating for me. However, the nausea from the drugs kicked my butt. The other patient who had a sleeve, was fine and dandy, talking, eating, etc.
