I just got my gastric sleeve done on June 14th. I am wondering what has helped you with the bloating and fatigue I am experiencing?

I am taking a daily Vitamin and my diet is strictly Protein Shakes, Water, sugar free and caffeine free teas, also chicken broth and sugar free popsicles.

You’re so newly sleeved so give yourself some time. You probably have a lot of fluids and gas still in you from your surgery. A lot of those foods might have high sodium which contributes to bloat. Lots of Water helps and later, potassium rich food.

What helped me with the gas was just moving/walking around. As for the sleepiness, that went away after the first two weeks once I moved into the puree stage. Otherwise those first two weeks I would be sitting here falling asleep off and on throughout the day.

Thank you guys! Yes that's pretty much what I do, just nod on and off all day lol

I'm use to being up and on the move with my four children and being in school full time, and I am just struggling. But I have always heard it always gets worse before it gets better and I just need to ride this out and I'll be back to normal in no time.

I had my surgery 6/1 and I’m still very fatigued. I realized I’m still doing too much and my Fluid intake hasn’t been up to par. Make sure you REST REST REST. Your body has just undergone a major surgery. It’s going to take time for it to heal and recover. As hard as it is, believe me I KNOW, try to be patient. It does get better.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
