SunnyinSC 137 Posted June 13, 2021 (edited) So I had my RNY surgery on the 8th (yay!). Everything so far has gone really smooth, no complications to really speak of. Gas pain from the surgery itself seems to be gone, walking got all that out by day 2. However, I've noticed that whenever I eat or drink -anything- at all, even Water, I get super gassy. My abdomen gets that gassy uncomfortable feeling and it stays for a good while but will eventually dissipate. It's not a huge deal or anything, and it's not really painful, but I was just wondering if this was common, and does it eventually pass? I was expecting it with maybe Protein Drinks or dairy, but wasn't expecting it with water. Edited June 13, 2021 by SunnyinSC
VSGJen 8 Posted June 14, 2021 I had my surgery on March 31st and I have gas after eating and it's actually become something that I consciously burp to relieve still but it also lets me know when I am getting full. I know that I have heard some people have gas out one end or the other, so I am glad it's just burps 😉. It has been getting better since surgery and since you are so new out of surgery your stomach is really sensitive and is just reacting to everything you are putting in there at least it was that way for me too. I took to journaling symptoms, like gassy stuff or things that maybe made me more or less nauseous. It's a good way to track if/how things are changing or improving over time. 1 SunnyinSC reacted to this
SunnyinSC 137 Posted June 14, 2021 Yeah, I burp a lot too. I apparently won the jackpot and get both ends. Looking forward to when it goes away. Though, really, even if it never went away and was a known long-lasting side effect of surgery, I'd still have gone through with surgery. Thank you for the response!
