Interesting hair loss observation

Recommended Posts

I’m just about 2 years post op VSG. I lost a fair amount of hair and definitely had to cover my head on sunny days the last couple years to avoid sun burning my scalp. I was just vacationing on Nantucket last week and had wonderful sunny weather. I forgot a hat! I got a little pink on my cheeks, arms and shoulders (despite using sunscreen) but had no burn on my scalp! My hair has finally filled back in :)

Go buy some Biotin with 10,000 mcg. It does helped to grow your hair whenever you had experienced with Hair loss

My nutritionist told us not to take too much Biotin because it doesn't really help with Hair loss and it can interfere with noticing other Vitamin deficiencies.

Too much Biotin can also falsely elevate liver values for bloodwork. I agree with your NUT, it’s very overrated and does not do much for Hair loss. hair loss is followed in periods of extreme stress or changes to the body. It will come back.

My Vitamin levels are all great, and I take them as prescribed. My point was that at 2 years PO my hair has come back! Just trying to give some hope to those pre op or early in their post op period.

Wow I did not know this. I have liver disease and the numbers are almost down to normal since my surgery. I have been taking biotin, though, and I hope that doesn't cause a problem. I guess I'll stop. It's already in my Multivitamin anyway.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
