I am a week post op and I honestly feel like crap! I keep feeling so nauseous and I can’t get my self to drink a good amount of Water. I honestly feel very regretful today. When does it get better?

It varies for everyone but I had to buy Crystal Light, Syntrax Nectar, and Isopure to get my Water in the first few days. You’ll turn an immediate corner very soon! Hopefully your doc can prescribe some anti-nausea medicine. Congrats on the surgery!

Thanks for the advice I’m hoping that it gets better sooner than later.

So sorry to hear this. I, too, had big issues with nausea and vomiting for weeks. I am still more sensitive than most people, I think, at two months out.

My surgeon had me take two different anti-nausea medicines, every three hours around the clock. I did this for a week. I also took Pepcid for about six weeks. I had a swallow X-ray test to rule out a stricture. I learned that Protein Shakes and some pills were triggers for me. (A food/medicine journal helped with this)

Now, I don’t vomit most days, and most of the nausea is gone, unless I break a rule like eating too fast, or drinking and eating too close together. When I do vomit, I take it very easy for two days and then my pouch is better. I have also found it’s easier to drink more at a time, the more that time goes by.

Hang in there, it is tough, and not everybody suffers from this. I have found it gets better!

Thanks for the advice! I’m happy to hear that things do get better. Was starting to think I made a mistake. I don’t really vomit but I do feel a bit nauseous and also get nervous while drinking. I’m afraid if I drink to much I’ll get too full.

I hope it gets better for you. I’m struggling too. Had surgery on 5/25 and I’m full of regret. This journey has been so hard for me. Every day is a struggle. I pray that it gets better for the both of us.

We’re surgery twins! I hope it gets easier for you. Our new normal is an adjustment for sure, but keep focused on your “why.”

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
