ucmgrad2001 3 Posted June 10, 2021 Hello, I have my surgery date! 6/28! Super excited. I received my pre op paperwork yesterday. Only thing I'm required to do is a clear liquid diet for 48 hours prior. Anyone else not have a "liver shrinking diet?" Thanks! 3 MandM1188, lovellytanya86 and SummerTimeGirl reacted to this
rjan 164 Posted June 10, 2021 I didn't. I started out at a BMI of 35, which is rather on the low end of starting points. They don't always ask you to lose weight before if they don't think you're likely to have fatty liver, which they could think because of your starting weight or other bloodwork. For instance, if your triglycerides are low, you're less likely to have fatty liver. 3 MandM1188, Arabesque and ucmgrad2001 reacted to this
SunnyinSC 137 Posted June 10, 2021 I didn't have a pre-op diet at all. Had surgery on the 8th. So far everything has been going well My surgeon mentioned they don't do it for individuals less than 50 BMI. Could be your office is similar. Doesn't seem like no pre-op diet is common by any means, but you aren't alone! 2 MandM1188 and ucmgrad2001 reacted to this

Anaisa 1 Posted June 13, 2021 I was told an empty stomach and a non fatty liver will make your surgery and recovery very smooth.Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app 1 MandM1188 reacted to this

Aliana Wood 19 Posted June 17, 2021 I did not have to do a pre-op diet either. The only thing I had to do was 1 day of only liquids the day before surgery. I was surprised by it personally and it seemed to be the standard policy across my whole program. 1 MandM1188 reacted to this
lizonaplane 1,613 Posted June 17, 2021 Mine is just a high Protein, low carb, low fat diet for two weeks and then I think it's liquids the day of surgery or maybe the day before. Still don't have my surgery date and I've been preparing for almost 5 months!! 1 MandM1188 reacted to this
