catwoman7 11,220 Posted June 9, 2021 not sure when you had your surgery, but a lot of lose our sense of hunger for a few months. I pretty much lost interest in food, too - it was sort of a chore to eat. I wish that was still true, but alas...my hunger came back at five months out. 1 Shanell reacted to this
Arabesque 7,414 Posted June 9, 2021 (edited) Yes, I had days like that. Very often actually. It’s why I stated eating to a routine - to ensure I got in some calories & nutrients. I didn’t mind if I didn’t eat all my portion but as long as I ate something nutritious. I felt this was really important when I was losing. My hunger started to come back at about 18 months but I still have times I’m just not hungry. Now on these days I’ll drop my Snacks but still try to keep to my meals. I also tend to favour meals I pre made & froze on non hungry days. No fussing just reheat so I don’t lose what little enthusiasm I have for eating messing about prepping a meal. Good luck. JDLane 140 Posted June 9, 2021 Yes, I'm 4 weeks out and while I rarely experience true hunger most days I still have a desire to eat. Some days though I just don't want to put anything into my body at all. It's rough. I find it easier to eat on the days I'm in a good routine like going in to my office for work, but if I'm home or it's the weekend it's so much harder for me to find the will to eat. However, I feel like garbage if I'm not properly hydrated and hitting Protein so it's a vicious circle. I just kind of have to force myself to eat anyway and get past it. 1 Shanell reacted to this

I know this is a weird thing to say, but...enjoy it while you can. For most of us, hunger comes roaring back sometime within the first year, and then things become much more challenging. It'll never in your life be easier to lose weight than it will right now, when you don't give a flip about food. In retrospect, I wish my hunger had never come back!!! 1 Shanell reacted to this
Luna Girl 310 Posted June 9, 2021 I have zero hunger or desire for food since my surgery on April 19th. For dinner tonight, my son pan seared two filets with butter and garlic for his Dad and himself with roasted asparagus [my favorite meal] and it smelled amazing, but I had no desire for any of it. My husband said he was sorry I couldn't eat any of the filet yet and I told him it wasn't bothering me at all! I do hope I will enjoy food again in the future [in smaller quantities]...but right now, if I didn't need it to survive, I wouldn't eat. 1 Shanell reacted to this

I am 4 years out 8/9 VSG and 14 months revised RNY. My relationship with food has changed. Its a chore to eat and I am not in the mood most of the time. My weight is starting to drop again. I weighed in at 148.8 this morning. So I made some mac n cheese to go with some leftover meatloaf. I was actually excited to eat, lol. Yeah, so depending on what the food is makes a lot of difference too. I didnt have this issue with VSG and I think its because I still felt normal when I ate and could still eat what I wanted just in smaller portions. My views and relationship with food in maintenance were the same pre surgery as far as what I ate. RNY not the same. I dont have the same sense of fullness as I did before I ever had surgeries or the way it did with VSG. In fact I mostly dont feel anything but if I eat one bite over I am deathly ill and the same thing goes if I eat the wrong foods. So I feel this is why I not interested and I rarely feel hungry so why bother . SIGH
