Morbid Obesity is a DISEASE

Recommended Posts

I was reading the Sunday paper and came adross this in the USA WEEKEND section.

Kirstie Ally " I don't have a disease. I don't have the fat gene. But I have a charecter flaw, which is I have a tendecy to get out of control, and I have to rein it in." Shes saying this while she "curls up on the peach-colored sofa in the den of her kitschy 1920's-era mansion in the Hollywood Hills." she sipping Crystal Light from a pink cut-glass goblet her assistant has brought her.

definition:desease

{a condition of the living animal or plant body or of one of it's parts that impairs normal functioning}huh?

I have be honest I don't really understand how it's a desease. Some people think fat is a cover for other issues. fears, being insecure, the fat protects us from some thing. For me it's my hormones. PMS kills me. Or maybe it's PMDD?

I become a bottomless pit and the pit only wants crap to eat. I've only ever stayed on a diet for three months. Than something happens and bam I'm eating badly again. Fear of success, maybe?

what ever it is I want out. Celebertys have a staff of people to help. Lap Band will be my personal staff, thank you very much. I write this as I sit on my hard chair in front of my outdated PC sipping my Water that I got all by myself. Once again "Thank you very much."

Tina

New report on the news today that MO is shortening the average life span, (imagine that), but insurance companies still refuse to pay. There was a lot of emphasis put on obese children, which become obese adults. Hopefully, help is on the way.

As a new 'bandee' of 1 1/2 wks., I also was told to lose weight prior to surgery and was given a presurgery diet. My doctor said the reason for that was so that my liver could shrink and there would be less chance of it getting perforated during the banding.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
