lizonaplane 1,613 Posted June 7, 2021 I wouldn't order off the kids menu -it's usually junk food that isn't good for your new stomach, too much carbs. Try ordering chili, or lean Protein with a side of veggies once you're on "real" food. You can take the leftovers home for a few more meals. I know people here order salmon, chicken, lean cuts of beef, turkey burgers with no bun, etc. 2 pk88 and catwoman7 reacted to this
JDLane 140 Posted June 7, 2021 Share with a family member. Order an appetizer or a side dish. Take home your leftovers and have a few more meals. Accept the loss as part of the journey. We ordered out a few days ago, I got something I could handle at my current stage. I ate a small portion of it once per day for about 4 days and only got through maybe 2/3 of it and we threw the rest away. It stinks to waste food but it's not my primary worry right now. Hopefully in the future I'll be able to find better balance with less waste. 4 pk88, Arabesque, lizonaplane and 1 other reacted to this
The Greater Fool 2,054 Posted June 7, 2021 (edited) I have never ordered a child's menu item. Generally, children's items are geared to children's tastes. I didn't even care for them when I was a child. They are not designed for folks on strict healthy nutritional plans. I order what I want that satisfies my plan. I eat the volumes according to my plan. Leaving food on the plate is not the sin most of us seem to think it is. The cards you can get that explain you had surgery and asks for child portions are nonsense, in my opinion. My spouse naturally eats small portions so why should she be not able to present a card also? Or anyone on a diet? Why should *WE* get special treatment while dieters don't? Good luck, Tek Edited June 7, 2021 by The Greater Fool 2 pk88 and catwoman7 reacted to this
catwoman7 11,220 Posted June 8, 2021 I agree with others. Children's menus rarely have good choices. I've always either ordered an appetizer, or something like Soup or chili, or I've ordered a "safe" entree (lots of good Protein, nothing fried) and taken half (or more) of it home in a to-go box. To be honest, a lot of never-been-obese women eat that way regularly.
Arabesque 7,414 Posted June 8, 2021 I agree with @The Greater Fool & @catwoman7 - kids menu usually have the worst food choices with poor nutritional value. I ordered appetisers, Soup or salads. If I could take home left overs I would. When I was losing I would just quietly tell the wait staff I was on a medically restricted diet & they generally were fine with that. Some were so good they allowed me to order appetiser sizes of main course options or would remove ingredients from what I chose like just give me the fillings on wraps. I love places that offer share plates - you can just eat what you need & everyone else shares the rest.
