catwoman7 11,220 Posted May 29, 2021 yes - it's pretty awful. You just have to white knuckle it. I was relieved the morning of surgery because it was O-V-E-R!! (it's not bad after surgery since most of us aren't hungry then...) I had my surgery on June 3, too (of 2015) 2 1979grit and Iluvbats reacted to this

I was allowed to have a limited amount of clear broth and Tomato juice/V8 every day (I think it was a cup of each), and I did have those every day - the sodium in them makes some people retain Water, which can make you feel more "full" (well, less hungry, anyway...). I notice my clinic now allows the patients to have pickles and Pickle Juice on the pre-op diet. Same thing - sodium. I was also allowed to have sugar free popsicles and sugar free Jello - I ate both with abandon (sometimes I'd eat the whole thing of Jello (4 servings or whatever) in one sitting, because it was the only thing I could have which somewhat resembled real food. if you're one who's allowed one meal a day on the pre-op diet, consider yourself lucky. Many of us are on all liquid diets. It's tough - but we manage to get through it!! 1 Iluvbats reacted to this
Elahnen 183 Posted May 29, 2021 Just drink so much Water and Gatorade zero that you can’t stand it anymore! That’s what I have been doing for almost a week now. I get soo liquid full that the sight of food makes me nauseated. It’s definitely not easy, but just keep telling your self it temporary!
qt71178 0 Posted June 3, 2021 Hey! I'm right there with ya! I started yesterday and I feel like I'm starving. I know that I'm obviously not but the liquid isn't cutting it for me. I was hoping seltzer would help fill me up but even thats not really helping. I think it's the fact that we can't actually chew anything that's messing with our heads. Anyways sorry I don't have any helpful tips but just wanted you to know you're not alone. Hang in there!Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
GummyBearQueen 115 Posted June 3, 2021 Liquid diets are the worst. I’m in the post-op pureed stage right now and my only advice is to power through. This is the work and sacrifice we have to make. We’ve all been there! 1 Iluvbats reacted to this

Today is my 2nd day and I'm struggling. I ended up making a Greek salad (no cheese) but I had to add a boiled egg to it and I don't even know if that's allowed. Approximately 12 more days to go. Having this forum helps. It's nice to know others are on the same journey. And it's going to be the best journey ever. Starwarsandcupcakes 2,070 Posted June 5, 2021 You can always try freezing some Protein Shakes partially and eating with a spoon. I’ve also blended one with ice so make it thicker to eat with a spoon. Hang in there. For me it got easier the longer I did was on it. 4 learn2cook, sirprank, MAMAM513 and 1 other reacted to this

I am actually going to do this now. It will seem like I am eating ice cream but healthy. Thanks

It will seem like I am eating ice cream but healthy. Thanks I just bought some silicone popsicle molds with little lids from Amazon- and filled them with my Protein Drinks and slowly had them. My plan after surgery is mix plain nonfat greek yogurt with 1/2 teaspoon of pureed blueberries (just for taste) and make frozen yogurt popsicles. Also- these were inexpensive for eight of them. They also say you can put any juice, or crystal light in them and they will freeze, thus making sugar free popsicles. I am scared for the pre-op all liquid diet for two weeks. I just cleaned out the entire refrigerator and freezer and either threw stuff out, or gave to a neighbor. I also made a huge batch of chicken broth (found 5 bags of bones from leftover chicken I made) and then got square containers at the dollar store, about 1.5 cup size- and they stack well. So I am stocked up for a while. I also made pea Soup (no meat) and pureed it silky smooth and have those when the time comes. I put plastic wrap on before the lid so no freezer burn. I live alone and have to have things easy for myself. Hope these ideas help someone. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013JTIBK4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Edited June 8, 2021 by Lynn12345 Added picture of silicone popsicle molds 3 Peanutz, ShrinkingSydney and lizonaplane reacted to this

Also, I was just thinking you could put your smoothies or diet cranberry juice in them, etc. Lots of ways to freeze things. And because we have to eat slow, we can "squeeze up" whatever we are having slowly- and if we have to stop, just put the cap back on.

I plan to freeze some Water with drink mix added and some Protein drinks for before surgery and when I'm on full liquids after surgery. 1 Peanutz reacted to this
