I am trying to taste test as many Protein products as I can so I can have what I need in the house ready to use after my surgery, mid June.

I would like to hear some recommendations on the best tasting protein Soup mixes, and fruit juice/flavoring for Water. I've already tested several Protein Shake mixes. But any and all recommendations are welcome.

Thanks!

I found the Premier Protein shakes too thick and sweet. I am now drinking Iconic Protein Shakes. I also like the Isopure Protein powders. The lemonade is good and I also use the unflavored.

I have heard that a lot of people's tastes change after surgery, so I was told not to stock up on anything, because even if you like it now, you might hate it after surgery. I bought an assortment to have around after surgery, so I can try different things, like different flavors of Bone Broth, flavored low sugar drinks, Protein Water, different types of Protein Shakes, etc.

Once you get to the soft stage I highly recommend the fuel for fire Protein packs!! I love them all!!!

I found a few products I liked pre op, stocked up, and then post op absolutely hated the taste of them! Ended up with a lot of waste. Would recommend having a selection to try, but be prepared for your tastes to change.

For me, the best products were those closest to 'normal' food, like Protein yoghurts. At 9 months post op I still use those to top up when I don't manage to get enough protein in the day.

Hope all goes well for you, singerjoyce.

Tastes definitely change after surgery so dont stock up too much. Premier Protein has a variety pack on Amazon. Maybe other manufacturers do the same. This may be a good idea to have on hand then you can just order what you like and have it at your door in two days.

My taste totally changed after surgery. I would suggest waiting at least a few months out to start stocking up on stuff. My husband literally bought me one of every brand of yogurt they sell at the stores. I hated all of them. Around month 6 was when I could start eating "normal" again. Meaning I actually started liking the stuff I was eating before surgery (healthy stuff).

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
