Continued Nausea, 8 Weeks Out

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone! I'm so happy I found this group! I've learned a great deal from the forums. I'm 8 weeks out from u RYGB gastric bypass surgery. My stomach feels awful most of the time. I'm nauseous most of the time, especially when I drink any liquid or eat. At times, when I'm drinking Water it feels like someone is sticking needles in my stomach. I've not been able to tolerate any dairy yet. My doctor and his team are fantastic, but nothing has helped, herbs, ginger etc. except for Zofran and I really can't take medication forever. No food tastes good or appeals to me. I've also had to have my esophagus dilated 2 times because it becomes so tight that swallowing is difficult. Has anyone else had these issues after a RYBG? I'm really working on not getting discouraged! Any advice would be appreciated. Thank You!

Hello when I was in my first 2-3 months I was so sick I couldn't even drink Water or eat anything. I lost 40lbs in one month because of it. Not good. My doc had to give me a script for a nausea patch that you wear behind your ear. It did help a little. Then I discovered peppermint tea and it helped a lot. It was basically the only thing I could tolerate. I still drink it now when my belly hurts or feels sick. food didn't start tasting good until almost 6 months out. I am 9 months out and now I feel much better. Hang in there, it will get better.

Thank you for the tea advice and the nausea patch. I'll talk to my doctor about it. I'm happy to hear that it does get better with time.
