I had my surgery on July 8th, initially was scheduled for June 8th but my surgery got cancelled. Since my surgery date has already passed; I'm doing well compared to just about everyone else! Goodluck to all!

Hi, everyone! I am a little late to the party, but I just had surgery on Tuesday, July 27, and I’m excited to have found a group of people who are on the same timeline as me.

It’s 4:07am, so obviously I’m not sleeping through the night yet, but I feel pretty good overall. I have had some big feelings, though, of being very worried that I’m going to be miserable about this choice I made, even though prior to surgery I was so positive and upbeat about it. Anyone else having that mental struggle?

I also had mine the 27th! And have struggled with small panic attacks the night before and morning of surgery as well as immediately after when I realized oh my God what have I done, I just had my completely normal healthy stomach removed... And I have had feelings of regret often, especially when waking up in pain. But my bariatric team prepared me for these feelings and said it is to be expected and very normal to feel that way. They had me write a list of all the things I look forward to, my goals, and why I am doing this operation in the first place. Consulting that list when I feel bad really really helps and snaps me out of that dark place!

So maybe you can share with us what are the top 3 things you look forward to most?

Mine are:

1. to be able to hike and run and kayak and do all the outdoorsy things I have been or felt too fat to do

2. to buy clothes I actually like, not just what fits or is "slimming"

3. to be healthy for my loved ones

I had my surgery on July 15 and initially after surgery, I had similar feelings. I am feeling better and not regretful at this point and looking forward to the positive changes.

The best advice that I can offer is to breathe and remember why you are having the procedure.
I, too, freaked out a couple days before surgery. I thought to myself that if I am losing weight without having my anatomy altered, then why do it. Then I remembered that I also struggled for so long and give up when it seems as if the weight wasn’t dropping fast enough. I also remembered that I don’t want the diseases associated with obesity. Just remember your “Why”.

Still on liquid diet as my surgeon suggests 4 weeks minimum on full liquid then move to soft foods. Have to say I’m struggling with head hunger right now.. craving bad food, pizza, Pasta. Burgers and fried chicken 😩

I kinda feel hungry but not a physical hunger… it’s strange to explain…

I’m having 60-70g Protein each day, and just managing additional 1800ml of Water as well.

Have only lost 2lbs in 10 days which is upsetting..

Today is 9 days since my surgery. "Head Hunger" is a real thing because I am not hungry physically but I want to eat. I'm keeping up with the Protein. I feel fully recovered, just some tenderness where the incisions are.

I've only lost 4 pounds. Maybe this isn't going to work for me.

Hi I got my revision on July 26th and been on a liquid diet since. Some days are easy but some days are so hard especially when time is soooo slow and everyone munches around you!

I agree, the full liquid phase seems to be going very slowly. I had my sleeve the same day as your revision. I started full liquids on Thursday (29th) and don't move to soft stage until August 10th. Getting tired of broths & shakes, but knowing this is temporary makes it easier. Sometimes I even feel like I wouldn't want anything to eat anyway, those times makes it easier. Then other times I really want something other than what I can have. I am looking forward to that soft food stage! (No purée stage on my plan)

Yesterday, I added GENEPRO to my Crystal Light and my Soup (half serving of genepro in each), that way I only needed 1 Protein Shake. Do you, or anyone else have anything they did during full liquid that makes it easier or more interesting?

We'll be on to a new phase before we know it, we just got to hang in there! Hoping everyone is doing well with their progress. 😊 (Scale isn't moving as much as I thought it would my first week🙄, but it's moving)

My surgery was on 7/13, and I had my first day back at work as a teacher today. It went really well, and I didn't run out of energy even though we went from 7:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. (open house). I think it helped that I was prepared with plenty of foods and I ate a few times.

We had a staff luncheon and I was a little worried what people might say because I haven't told most of them about the surgery. I ended up putting more on my plate than I plan to eat, and I slowly ate a small portion of those things. Nobody seemed to notice.

One more exciting thing for me: I went shopping for some new school clothes yesterday and I had to keep bringing back the bigger sizes for smaller ones! I got a couple of pairs of pants that were 14s and a few 16s and some shirts that were either XL or 1XL. The scale doesn't move very rapidly for me, so it was nice to see this NSV. I hope everybody else is doing well and getting back into the swing of things!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
