Thank you for the encouragement. I don't have a fever and it's not as bad today. It hurts to cough, burns like crazy. All in all I feel better today.

I had my surgery on Tuesday. I have not told anybody about it. Im just so afraid if this does not work long term.

Surgery recovery has been surprisingly “easy” so far but i know Im not done yet!!! One day at a time. But so far so good.

For the last 10 years nearly every Month I was starting another diet. I dont even recognize myself in the mirror. This really is my last shot at changing long term health. I’m an empty nester and I'm committed to this change!

2 general questions:

how long are you wearing the compression stockings?

how long are you using the breathing machine? My doctor gave one to me but really did not explain it. (Ive called them and I'm waiting for a call back)

Sorry you are having a crappy day. In order for me to get my Protein requirements I add unflavored protein to my Soups and I drink protein Water. You may want to ask you r MD or dietician if you can. I start my day no later than 7 am in order to pace my day with protein and Fluid requirement. Hope you have a better day tomorrow.
Thank you,
I tried that today and it's getting better

Hey all!

If may I say to you all recent operated, it will all pass.

I didnt used the compressing stocks, but I had to use the machine breathing, I am a smoker, even after 14 of surgery.

The hardest is the 2 first weeks, then, you will be adjusted. Believe me.

If anyone need to talk, just call me.

Warm regards everyone

I just had my surgery on Tuesday 6/15/2021, started the whole process last July after 6+ years of debating it. I'm currently on a 2 week liquid post op diet (I never wanna see another Soup again in my life after 4 weeks of soup!). Post op hasn't been that terrible actually, that was the scariest part for me before doing it. I thought it would be SO painful the way people described it to me, and I thought I would just be miserable. The first 2 days post op were the worst but walk! You won't want to, but that helps SO MUCH with EVERYTHING, gas pains, stomach muscle pain, boredom lol. I have friends and family who have done this and only know 2 who have not gained all of their weight back which was a little discouraging but I refuse to be one of those people who this fails for. I just found this forum yesterday and I'm so glad I did.

I totally agree! I haven't told many people because I don't want anyone raining on my parade. I AM already a success story and it's going to stay that way! We've got this!

Ditto here! Only told a few people closest to me. I got a couple of comments about losing weight this week when I went back to work and I said that my Dr. put me on a medically supervised weight loss plan and I've also given up wine for a while. Both are technically true... ;) I don't think it will fail, but I also don't need people in my personal business.

Congrats on surgery! As for your questions, I didn't wear compression stockings. I had the little compression deals on in the hospital the day of surgery, but as soon as I got up and was walking around, they took them off and never put them back on. That being said, I've been really good about getting up and walking, so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.

The breathing do-hicky I used for about 7 days post surgery, just to be safe, since that was the doctor's orders. However, the nurse who discharged me said whether I brought it home or not was up to me. Where I was walking enough and taking deep breaths and all, she didn't think I'd have trouble with or without it.

Hopefully your doctor gets back to you soon!

Just checking in! 12 days post op and I think I'm hitting my first stall. Doing my best to remind myself it happens to everyone and just keep on plan and the scale will start dropping again. Overall down 14lbs since surgery on the 8th. So even if a stall for a week or more, that's still an excellent start :)

The reason I think I'm stalling is cause today is the first day I haven't had a loss. My weight is dead on the same as it was yesterday. It's a bummer cause I almost got down into the 240s (I'm 251.4!), but it will pass!

Oh, also.. I did some puree "taco" stuff. I basically threw taco seasoned turkey meat, guacamole, sour cream, and refried Beans into a blender. The texture was kinda ick. If any of you do this on your pureed diet, I would instead recommend pureeing only the taco meat, then adding that to the other stuff, since it's already pureed. Texture is a lot more tolerable that way.

Hi,

Try not to focus on the scale. It will surely drive us nuts. So, how long did you have to do Clear Liquids for? I'm 3 weeks clears and 1 week soft, then start regular food. Ugh.. Hate this stage. Hang in there 🤗

My plan is weird (in comparison to the others on here). I had no pre-op diet and was only on liquids for a day and a half. The hospital released me on pureed. I'm on pureed for 4 weeks. Then move to soft. I also can't wait to eat something with a texture. Right now I have sugar free popsicles that I eat like.. one a day of, just to get a crunch from something. I was telling hubby at this point I'd gladly do salads, veggies and the like, just to get some texture variety. All part of the process though!

I haven't told many people either about the surgery. Mainly for the same reason, I don't want that many people in my business or to hear their opinions. My work and coworkers know and have been super supportive! I'm not cleared for ATLEAST 2 weeks, my follow up is scheduled for July 1st. Family and friend wise, only the important immediate family know. We definitely got this and I think the support from this forum will definitely help with that!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
