I can't remember when I started eating oatmeal - although I did at some point. I'd check with your clinic to see if it's OK, and if not, when you can start eating it.

I don't remember when I started eating oatmeal either. I think maybe I was 5 months out, but don't really remember. Just check with your dieting guidelines for your surgeon to find out when it's okay to add it. They might be fine with you adding it now, or they might not, so it's always best to check. I haven't had oatmeal in a few months (two or three) now as I'm addicted to Protein waffles and pancakes right now lol. They're wheat free so I can eat them! :D (I have a wheat allergy so it's hard to find foods without wheat since flour tends to be wheat based unless it's a specialty flour like gluten free or almond or coconut flour).

I haven't eaten it in a long time, but I used to add Protein Powder to mine as well. I'd usually add vanilla or cinnamon flavored, though.

I was able to eat oatmeal (rolled oats) from purée stage. I just made it extra milky (more thick Soup consistency) - gave me more Protein & made it easier to eat. I couldn’t eat much at first (one serve lasted three days) but could manage a single portion at about 12 months out.

I eat it every day, still very milky but with blueberries & a little bit of honey now.

IIRC, I had some the day after getting out of the hospital as it was one of the things in the hotel Breakfast bar to try that fit our plan. I'm not big on that type of thing but it was OK. I would expect that it would be on most any plan by this time, unless they are seriously carbophobic, but you can check with your team if in doubt, and it wasn't covered in your post op guidelines.

My plan actually had oatmeal on my week two diet plan (thin oatmeal). So I've been eating oatmeal occasionally since a couple weeks post-op. But my plan does say to limit oatmeal until you're closer to maintenance due to high carb content.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
