Hello and happy Mother’s Day to all you mommas out there! I have a question about cottage cheese. My dietician has recommended the cheeses and dairy I eat are fat-free or low fat. This hasn’t really bothered me until I tried low fat cottage cheese. The texture was grainy and horrendous. I can’t do it. Does anyone still eat full fat cottage cheese? I love it and it’s a good source of Protein, I just can’t do the low fat version 😖

I am eating the Good Culture low-fat cottage cheese. It’s very good IMO.

I eat low-fat Walmart brand. Way better than the name brands. I mix 1/3 cup with a tbsp of oikos triple 0 to give it a little flavor. My Breakfast most mornings. I actually wake up craving it.

I've been making my own for the last couple of years and I always use full fat milk to make it. So...yes.

I buy those small 5.3 oz cups of smooth cottage cheese, plain. I mix them with sf pudding or sf Jello packet and sf cool whip for a sweet treat thats Protein packed. Or I add Everything but the bagel seasoning and a dash of hot sauce and eat with cucumber slices. I do not like small nor large curd cream cheese, nor low fat or fat free. Pretty much do not like cottage cheese period unless its mixed in something.

I prefer full fat for the satiation it provides, but for less calories I have low fat. Kind of a bummer to still feel like I’m dieting (noticing calories) but I know it doesn’t have to be forever, just for now.

I would think it’s kinda like avacado or nuts. It’s a little higher in calories but loaded with good stuff so it’s acceptable as long as you stay within your calories for the day.

I don't honestly notice much a difference in taste or texture between low fat and full fat but I've had both since surgery and neither one bothers my pouch. I get low fat because less calories but if the taste bothered me, I think I could switch to full fat no problem.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
