There's actually a clinical study where it looks like it led to about the same Protein levels in blood as 30g of whey protein isolate https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/results/NCT02919657

However, the participants used many other forms of protein as well, the GENEPRO 2 or Whey Protein Isolate just being a small source of total protein, so no way to tell what difference it makes.

Just read another source that pointed out (correctly) that GENEPRO claims to have 30 g of Protein in 58 calories, but since protein has 4 calories per g, 30gx4calories would be 120 calories IF there were 30g of protein in one serving of genepro. Boy, do I feel duped! That's the first and last time I buy anything off Facebook!

I honestly don’t know how they’ve been able to get away with this for so long. The supplement industry is very cutthroat and most of the time inaccurate/false advertising is caught fairly quickly. Especially when they advertise this as a “medical grade” product.

I wondered how the calories were so much lower in the powder. Thanks to you and the original poster that brought this up.

I was able to drink Protein2o Protein Water just fine before the surgery, but after surgery it is too sweet. I have to mix it half and half with water. I don’t have a problem with the taste of the Premier Protein shakes but I am bored with them. I bought a flavorless Protein Powder that gives me 30 grams of protein with each scoop. Isopure from GNC. It mixes with anything water, juice, gatorade zero, I also mix it in my Oikos Zero yogurts. It does better mixed with cold liquids. Don’t mix with hot Soup or coffee. It kind of solidifies instead of dissolves.

Bariatricpal makes Protein Soups. I have a beef bouillon (70 calories and 15g protein) one every day that I work.

I also used Syntrax unflavored Protein Powder (10g protein for 40 calories), but their Roadside Lemonade and chocolate truffle (both 100 calories and 24g protein) flavors are delicious. They sell a variety pack of individual servings so you can try the flavors to see how you like them. They mix great with Water.

Other times I’ll mix fat free fairlife milk with serving of Starbucks skinny vanilla latte (refrigerated section at the store). It comes to comes out to 150 calories and 19g of protein.

I just had my surgery on 5/28, so I'm still at the "Puree" stage of diet. Still, I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to manage 60 to 80 grams of Protein every day.

For years, I have used WonderSlim brand Protein Shakes sold by Diet Direct. One envelope is 15 grams of protein. I would mix them up with ice and milk so that I would get 25 grams of protein in a very shake-like food which was actually enjoyable. Since surgery, I left out the ice to lower the volume. That ended up being more like pudding, but still tasted good.

The next thing I tried was to mix in one scoop of Orgain brand vanilla flavored protein powder. This powder tastes too artificial to me. Now my shake is just tolerable, not enjoyable. (I don't like this powder in my Cream of Wheat, either.)

I may try some of the protein Soups as between-meal Snacks, but I'm certainly interested in other suggestions.

I know there are some controversies with GENEPRO, but considering everything else I have tried makes me nauseous, I figure I am getting at least something from it.

I do taste Genepro in certain situations, but with the right proportions, do not.

for example, I do not taste it in 3 cups of Crystal light. I did taste it in oatmeal, so only do half a scoop now.

I use Isopure unflavored, tahitian vanilla and very berry and lemonade. They all taste great. Also the Premier Protein cafe latte powder is delicious mixed with Water and has 30g of Protein. Quest protein chips are also tasty.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
